  1. Why protect muppets? if they are a true muppet, they should'nt be doing a dangerous job.
  2. I have run an 18" bar on a 260 no problem. Like Steve says, keep your chain sharp, turn up your oiler slightly, and away you go. Dont expect to break any records, but you shoud be fine. Tim, you probably needed to clean your airfilter and put the chain on the right way round
  3. There is a turbo version, using the 1505T 44hp engine. I think the infeed rollers run at the same rpm's as the rest of the range.
  4. And Cash is always king
  5. Yeah. Thats what we call ilegal action
  6. Nice one. love the old matador. Interesting chipper in the background shot. Is it a Jenz?
  7. There is no duty of care to inform the customer. Your there to cut their tress, to their specification, period. This is'nt rocket science, we're not astronauts (arbornauts maybe?). We're just guys who cut trees. Most customers want the tidyest job for the least money, not a lecture in health and safety. Oh, and I'd LOVE to see someone try and sue a customer for injuries....
  8. You can work for me deva...
  9. I hate it when people say 'blah blah blah like Germany / europe...' I've worked in Germany, and my experience is they dont give a damn about H&S. felled trees across busy streets in Stuttgart with no roadsigns, 30m platforms being used by russians with no tickets, no inforcement of PPE on ANY of the sites I worked. They seem to have a more laid back approach to the whole thing.
  10. Alex, Your claim to be writing an article might hold a little weight if you got yourself a spellchecker. Oh, and I tend to onehand a 200 more than I ever 2 hand it.
  11. Alex, I could'nt give a damn about other people looking and not posting - nor young guys and girlies looking. We do not need you pointing out what you feel is wrong. As far as I'm aware, its not yet illegal to use an 200t with one hand in certai situations - Although given our current nanny state H&S obsessed government policy, I'm sure it wont be long. As for my quote, my meaning is this - Put up some pics of your own, and I'm sure people on here could pull them to peices. However - This is counterproductive to the idea of sharing, and discourages forum posting. So we put up our pictures, and are politely ignore the things we dissagree with.
  12. Alex, most of us dont give a damn about the HSE looking at our pictures. If we start to pick holes in every pic, pretty soon no-one will post pics. Knowing HighScales level of experience, If he chose to do it that way, it was right for him. And I bet steve is gonna love you telling him how to make felling cuts Stop judging that you may not be judged; for with what judgment you are judging, you will be judged; and with the measure that you are measuring out, they will measure out to you. Why, then, do you look at the straw in your brother?s eye, but do not consider the rafter in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ?Allow me to extract the straw from your eye?; when, look! a rafter is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to extract the straw from your brother?s eye". (matthew 7;1-5)
  13. heard this again for the first time in years the other night on the homage Annie Nightingale request show. cool as.
  14. The single biggest advantage a petrol engine has is power to weight ratio. It makes for a very compact lightweight unit. Myself, I would always go for deisel - but there are many users out there who's remit is low cost and low weight/compact dimensions.
  15. Lovely Setter Alex. I gots one of them...
  16. Of course its not the best. It has'nt got a timberwolf badge on it...
  17. yes, you are WAY too cheap. those prices applied 10 years ago. you should be aiming for a minimum of £400 a day - and double it for those rich twerps in't village o london Think about it - your average plumber / joiner / Bricklayer will be taking home about £200 a day for turning up with a trowel....
  18. I know. I'm just being contrary
  19. Mr Ed

    cracks

No worries mate. That'll hold an elifunt.
  20. I dont trust my gear. I'm certain it plots against me behind my back....
  21. Your right silvafox. I'm 34, and my biggest problem is my fitness levels. too much desk, not enough tree...
  22. Diesel racing cars? follow Le Mans recently? http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006/06/audi_r10_tdi_di.html http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/11/diesel-le-mans-challenger-peugeot-908-hdi-gallery/
  23. I have. Anybody who holds NPTC AE2b will have them i.e. powerline arborists. I dont think there needed, but I think they are a reasonable indication that someone has had to pass a test in crown reduction + rigging. Personally, I'd like to see NPTC completely replaced by NVQ type qualification, and covering proper pruning techniques as a requirement.
  24. I agree with what your saying mike, but I think there is still a market for petrol powered machines.
  25. I've done a lot of study recently into Petrol Vs diesel. A petrol engine will use no more than a diesel engine, for a given power output. Red diesel is cheap, but you will never get full power output from it. We have some of the very latest 38hp Kohler engines, and they are fantastic. the V twin has a great torque curve, is a piece of cake to service, and costs half of its diesel counterpart. They come with roller bearing cranks, so longevity is not an issue either. What it will enable us to do, is build a 750kgs chipper with plenty of Iron in it, at a reasnoble price.
