    441 v 460

yeah 372. oops, I mean 440 - except its now a 441, nearly as heavy as a 460.. 460 it is then. I know of guys who occasionally run 32" bars with no trouble and 28" as standard. Old monkey has just bought a new power ported 460 for running a 32" bar I believe...
  2. Hey Nick, good to see you. thats a pretty cool clip too.
  3. Hey Deva, you still got the picture of the flaming tree being felled?
  4. Linda, I would take a female worker tomorrow if the attitude was right. Any company that refuse a female worker on a gender basis is mad. Letting one go because their not capable, well thats different. We have to do that with blokes all the time.
  5. What Pete said. If however, the tree has no visible defects, and is healthy, then even if a freak wind blew it over, they could not be prosecuted for negligence. (I think!)
  6. Hey Simon, Good to see you.
  7. Apart from the new 2.4 duratorque engine, the transits used the same 2.5 peugeot engine. The LDV uses a lower ratio in the back axle though, meaning a lower top speed but better pulling power. 410 merc is also a good alternative. With a budget of 4k, LDV would be my choice.

    the missus

    oh er missus! crikey!
  9. What they call hollow ground knives. A hollow grind is always better on most machines, but its more expensive to set up for sharpening, and your blade edge is'nt as strong. Chips better though, just as a hollow blade hunting / skinning knife cuts better
  10. Go to any local hydraulic supplier with the filter and they will match you up a replacement. Should cost about a tenner.
  11. I'm only going on a brief look I had. It has plenty of steel in it. I always used to run my Farmi 260's at 1000rpm. far more efficient.
  12. I'll say this, its a lot of chipper for the money, and its real well built. But it needs a complete redesign for the UK market to make it compliant with current safety regs.
  13. I to am a muppet. this one -
  14. Quickbooks is brilliant. Its an american piece of software, designed for small busineses. Unlike SAGE, wich is designed for accountants...
  15. Sounds like the Salsco. Am I right?
  16. Pete, my opinion is that a lot of the older greenmech models were garbage. I'm surprised and impressed with the newer models though. one of my subbies tried a 50hp 9 inch model, and it was'nt a bad machine.
  17. TW - 600 Jensen - 450 Tunnisen Kwikchip - 45 JBM - 30 Schliesing - 75 Vermeer - 35 Greenmech - 250 Thats my semi educated guess.
  18. Nice Rob! Really nice... do you want another foul mouthed limey climber sometime?

Thanks Frimsley, thas what I was trying to say. If the person responsible for the standards set by the company / area team moves on, re-assesment is mandatory.

I dunno. My post was pretty straightforward. What do you think I'm implying??
  21. My experience of Women as workers in arb (as opposed to just climbing) is excellent. They tend to be very reliable, turn up on time, are fastidious about the cleanup, are not afraid to drag brash for hours on end, do excellent pruning, and have a great work ethic. They do tend to have a chip on their shoulders about trying to prove themselves, and can struggle to start saws. Having said that, I would always choose young women for ground crew over young blokes.

  23. Damn, just re-read that. 30 seconds?
  24. Nice one Steve! I would just like to thank the sponsors of Arbtalk for their generous prizes and interest. Thanks guys, we appreciate your support! Here's my entry -
