Mmmm, not real sure about the cabstar, not a big fan of having my face only 2 feet behind the front of the vehicle. I have crunched a few in my time and I like a bit more steel infront of me if Im honest!

Cheers for that. The reason Im asking is, I intend building another chip truck in a few months and sell the LDV. I origionally built this one to see if the idea of a tipper truck suited my situation. It has done very well and now i intend spending a bit more money and build one with the issues i have discovered from this one, ironed out in the new version. Hence, I want to start from the beginning by getting the lightest truck possible to build from. Obviously, a single cab would be lighter but i need to figure out the bits i would build on a single cab and if it would be better to just shelve out a crew cab. Ive been very happy with the LDV but would like more power, so have been looking at transits too. Would like something nearer 125hp. Cheers, Pete.

Just wondering if anyone can help me out. Im trying to find out comparative weights between the different chassis variations of LDV and Trannys and cant seem to find anything. Im specifically after differences between single and crew cabs of each, based on them being tippers or chassis cabs. The years Im looking at are the most recent rear wheel drive LDVs and the square headlamp trannies around '03 reg (125ps) Cheers in advance if anyone can help:thumbup1:

Yep, much better explained now. Perhaps in the future you could post a little more like this instead of the agressive manner you have previously. It does read a little better and wont get folks backs up as much:thumbup:

Mark, I know someone already mentioned it, but it is a very quiet time of year. Also at present just think of how the customer is seeing things. There has just been the VAT increase, fuel costs are rocketing, both knocking on to household bills going up, even groceries. People are having doom and gloom rammed down their throats at the moment and I think there is more uncertainty now than there was months ago. All these things considered, lets just hope this is as bad as it gets and things will start to improve in a few months. Just stick with the prices for now if you can.

Thanks for explaining. That is out of order, seeing as its based on an assumption only! I know several guys around me who do treework for the wood. They are qualified and insured to carry out the works they do. I wouldnt ring HSE on them just because i saw them working or heard they got a job off me though! After tax, employed, as climbers?

What? Is this relevant to the thread, perhaps you could elaborate..... Really? What would they do, tell the contractor they should charge? You dont know they have breached any HSE legislation by the given information, or do you mean you would just ring them to create hassle? Do you actually know of any full time employed climbers taking home £120 a day? That is £600 a basic week takehome after tax .

You aren't asking for much money Mark, there just must be plenty others working for nowt. I wont drop prices at all, even if Im slack, and cant see how anyone at the moment can be lowering theirs while costs are rocketing. Stick to your guns fella, I would.

Yeh, thats correct. These are the later differences between TW35 and FW60; Obviously the TW was widely availible in 4wd so made a slight mockery of the lettering:001_rolleyes:

Yes, but I dont class it as, hence why I asked like I did. Seems ideal for sticks though, cheap, lights easily, splits easily and plenty of it around. -

Lesley, greenhouses are great. I had all my stock in an open fronted one this year, same as i have done for a while now. Then we had between 2 and 3 feet of snow. Now, my entire stock of seasoned firewood has glass in it. If you go down this route, remember my words, open ended poly tunnels are better:sneaky2:

As you know Nige, I have rebagged a few recently and after several, thought it interesting to find out how many there were. I was amazed by the variation, anywhere between 237 and 462. Perhaps the best way forward would be price per log then the customer would know exactly what they were getting. Do away with all this volume stuff, as you say, you never know how many you are getting with that!
