  1. Very cutting tonight Nige' date=' you been in the knife box? This part still applies:001_tt2:
  2. Now, i would pay a lot of money to see you ride that Kev:lol: Has it a 1300cc hyabusa under the tub?
  3. The 50mph law for main roads is so old, even the rozzers dont know it:001_rolleyes: I recon if something went wrong they'd soon find it though:sneaky2:
  4. Ok, heres my full guess; car derived van, ie escort van; same as car. Lutons, pickups, trannys etc and upto 7.5t; 50 on main road, 60 on dual carriageway, 70 on motorway, but if towing only 60.
  5. Vans 50mph, very old law but still applies.
  6. Ok, got the price wrong these i spoke to quoted £5.30 +vat inc delivery for 075 cu M Bulk Vented Log Bags & Net Bags from Bag Supplies (fibc) Ltd, Dundee, Scotland Only thing the guy did say to me was these bags are treated against UV decay, but if they do still deteriorate i can get builders bags (0.72cu M) at less than £2 each and cut hole in them as stevie says and use them as single trip! So are they worth it?
  7. Been looking into getting 0.75cube vented bags, and looks like best price i can find is £5.60 +vat delivered. Not too worried about the price if they give good return, obviously need to be used a few times each, so just wondering for those of you who have had them a while now, are they lasting? Anyone with tips or advice on looking after them would be great, like are they affected by UV like builders bags, and do you leave them with customers, if so what sort of deposit are you charging etc.
  8. Cheers Ed for this thread, really enjoying it, as i am classed as a "Newbie" to climbing, giving me a great laugh:biggrin: The thing that comes to mind though is how fast things are moving on. After 5 or 6 years climbing, i am now getting comments like "oh, you still only climb on a prussik dont you"! Back then anything like a VT was just for the hyper techno guys where i was taught! Keep em coming you old boys:sneaky2:
  9. A bit contradictory there, but, the best way to find out is have a go. Even if you dont earn as much as the blokes, you dont turn around and say "Im throwing in the towel"
  10. Been playing with this little baby today, think i might choose one with a cab tomorrow if the forcast is anything to go by;
  11. Voted 14 on the 200 but thats only because i have a 192 with a 12 on. Dont know if i didnt have the little saw.
  12. Or MOD it, like my 260:sneaky2:
  13. I thought oregon made husky bars anyway:sneaky2:
  14. Also is it an optical illusion, or is the log on the right smaller?
  15. Didnt really want to butt in, but i was thinking the same! There was little between the saws near half way through, then the stihl bar seemed to be bogged all the time. Never a fan of comparisons like this, my 260 cuts like the stihl bar one on the vid............. After i hit a nail with it:sneaky2:
  16. Very nice, and as another sideline you could go into selling signs to order:thumbup1:
  17. If you're having troubles this should help; 01276 417640
  18. I make a point of not giving tree quotes without seeing the works, but in 8 years, i have had two enquirers insisting on a tree price over the phone and eventually i told them anywhere between £40 and £6,000. They both said thanks for that, bye! Guess the trouble is with me stevie, i know i am charging top money for logs, but would like to think i can give the customer an exact volume of what they are buying. It seems the public are used to this very vague (and open to manipulation) way of describing a delivery of logs. Not many other products have such uncontrolled weights and measures.
  19. You do know where i am coming from though Steve, surely? Its like saying your prices for tree removal are £400 for a small tree and £1800 for a big one, or im going to start selling petrol and diesel, my prices is £30. Would you buy any?
  20. But how big is a load? Surely people are not that thick? If i delivered a load it would be £400. This customer had been paying £140 for half a load. I know another supplier, sells at £60 a pick-up load, another at £180 for a tranny load. How can anyone tell whats the best value?
  21. Did try that Dean, she couldnt visualise something that measured 1M x 1M x 1M! She would of been happy for me to deliver "A Load" though:bird: I still cannot get my head around this, i know ive said about it before, but is it only me that thinks terminology like this is just WRONG?
  22. Amazing what you can do, even without a plough!
  23. AAAARRRRGGGHHHH! Had it again today, woman rings up and says how much are your logs delivered? "£60 per big bulk bag" i answer, "Oh, how big is a big bag she asks" "They measure 0.72 cu meter level, but i heap them up a bit so you will get nearer 0.75 or 0.8 cu meters" "Ah, ok not real sure how big that is" "Erm, well its less than a cubic meter" i reply "Oh, well the trouble is we've only bought it by the load or half load before" :cursing: She did go on to order two bags, but ended by saying "well i guess we'll see how big the bags are when you turn up with them"! I feel its a big uphill struggle sometimes
  24. You still get my vote for worst day Bob:001_rolleyes: And i have reduced 80M of thorn hedge today:001_huh:
