  1. Very nicely done Peter, and a nice set of pics. In hindsight, if you knew the extent of the central decay prior to cutting, would you have possibly cut a shallower gob? It appears from the pic of the stump, if the hinge was further forward it would have had much more holding wood and would have been wider too. Just throwing my thoughts forward:biggrin:
  2. If they are SE day rate, pay for bed and brekky. If employed, bed and all grub. Transport to and from included.
  3. Glad to hear all you lot had a blast:thumbup: Many thanks too, to frank for selling me the saw he won at a bargain price of £120. Guess he owed me a favour:thumbup1:
  4. On another note, why is England the only country in the UK that doesnt have a bank holiday for its patron saint day?
  5. Hi Paul, perhaps you can give us an update on progress through the week?
  6. Nothing to clear up really, i just thought we had reached a slight glimmer of hope of getting the "green waste" issue adressed with the EA by AA Paul, and since then, you seem to have had a pessimistic attitude to any progress being made.
  7. Some of your answers on this subject really do not help in the general course of this thread!
  8. Why on earth would you want to get a skip at £120-150, or transport it and pay a waste company to remove it, just to save buying a license? Would you? I think you may find, turning up with a truck full of green waste at the LA tip/landfill site will only work a handful of times, and it wont matter if its sign written or not. Possibly:001_rolleyes:
  9. But a landfill site should ask for a WCL if you are tipping there:confused1:
  10. I dont think anyone expects it done overnight, but if you are going to challenge the EA, perhaps you will keep us updated. Say, in a week or so? If a Poll will do any good i am sure most people would be willing to participate. Cheers, Pete.
  11. Cheers for the comments, and the wooden plugs noted. Mark2 will be an improvement:thumbup1:
  12. The amount is not the issue here, its the principle.
  13. But what was his tree work like shoddy? Did he not have chance of a reprieve if he wore a collar and tie? Was it just when meeting council chiefs he was seen to be scruffy, of while he was on the job?
  14. He was actually told it was because of his appearance shoddy?
  15. Shoddy, that would depend weather you want to portray yourself as a down to earth, hard working bloke, or an entrepreneur aquiring contracts to sub out:001_huh:
  16. The tree was at my Dads next door neighbours in open parkland. It collapsed over the years due to the main stem rotting. Eventually i got the job of clearing the remains about 2 years ago. The tree was around 240 years old so was a good size and many of the limbs, of varying quality, were 20-30" in diameter. This bench is from one of the logs that has started to decay at one end, hence the slight whitening on the right side of the bench.
  17. sarcasm is one of my greater strengths:lol:
  18. I was wonderin about the £200 mark but wasnt too bothered as it was for myself. Took about 5 or 6 hours in total and is made from some black walnut thats getting past its best. Nice bit of chill time doing it though:thumbup1:
  19. Ive been using this guy. Not sure if he does 1 cube bags, but the 900x900x900 are fine. Also does vented at a reasonable rate. FIBC - 1 TONNE BULK / STORAGE BAGS 25 PIECES on eBay (end time 16-May-10 19:52:14 BST)
  20. Suppose its saturday night Johnny, he might be on the sauce:beer:
  21. About 25 ton of 'em:001_rolleyes: Thats about as accurate as you giving a link to 1 ton bags when he asked for 1 cube bags!
  22. Think the fine is £350. Im happy to run the risk and get them to prove i am carrying WASTE!
  23. Dress code is one thing, but i still have as much conscience about the vehicle i turn up in. As a result try not to go in the truck but use the landy, and wear either smart casual or clean work gear(not ripped high flex!)
  24. So here it is, my first attempt. Ive got to get smaller washers so the bolt heads will sit in the countersunk holes and possibly a coat of something. I did this one for myself, but just wondering what sort of money is it worth asking for others like this it if i were to start selling them?
