  1. Why on earth would you want to get a skip at £120-150, or transport it and pay a waste company to remove it, just to save buying a license? Would you? I think you may find, turning up with a truck full of green waste at the LA tip/landfill site will only work a handful of times, and it wont matter if its sign written or not. Possibly:001_rolleyes:
  2. But a landfill site should ask for a WCL if you are tipping there:confused1:
  3. I dont think anyone expects it done overnight, but if you are going to challenge the EA, perhaps you will keep us updated. Say, in a week or so? If a Poll will do any good i am sure most people would be willing to participate. Cheers, Pete.
  4. Cheers for the comments, and the wooden plugs noted. Mark2 will be an improvement:thumbup1:
  5. The amount is not the issue here, its the principle.
  6. But what was his tree work like shoddy? Did he not have chance of a reprieve if he wore a collar and tie? Was it just when meeting council chiefs he was seen to be scruffy, of while he was on the job?
  7. He was actually told it was because of his appearance shoddy?
  8. Shoddy, that would depend weather you want to portray yourself as a down to earth, hard working bloke, or an entrepreneur aquiring contracts to sub out:001_huh:
  9. The tree was at my Dads next door neighbours in open parkland. It collapsed over the years due to the main stem rotting. Eventually i got the job of clearing the remains about 2 years ago. The tree was around 240 years old so was a good size and many of the limbs, of varying quality, were 20-30" in diameter. This bench is from one of the logs that has started to decay at one end, hence the slight whitening on the right side of the bench.
  10. sarcasm is one of my greater strengths:lol:
  11. I was wonderin about the £200 mark but wasnt too bothered as it was for myself. Took about 5 or 6 hours in total and is made from some black walnut thats getting past its best. Nice bit of chill time doing it though:thumbup1:
  12. Ive been using this guy. Not sure if he does 1 cube bags, but the 900x900x900 are fine. Also does vented at a reasonable rate. FIBC - 1 TONNE BULK / STORAGE BAGS 25 PIECES on eBay (end time 16-May-10 19:52:14 BST)
  13. Suppose its saturday night Johnny, he might be on the sauce:beer:
  14. About 25 ton of 'em:001_rolleyes: Thats about as accurate as you giving a link to 1 ton bags when he asked for 1 cube bags!
  15. Think the fine is £350. Im happy to run the risk and get them to prove i am carrying WASTE!
  16. Dress code is one thing, but i still have as much conscience about the vehicle i turn up in. As a result try not to go in the truck but use the landy, and wear either smart casual or clean work gear(not ripped high flex!)
  17. So here it is, my first attempt. Ive got to get smaller washers so the bolt heads will sit in the countersunk holes and possibly a coat of something. I did this one for myself, but just wondering what sort of money is it worth asking for others like this it if i were to start selling them?

    OOOPs!

To my house Paul! I'll give you a tenner to cover postage if you like:sneaky2:
  19. Oh, and as for the "quite reasonable £140" they charge for the license you dont need, i will be booking a nice weekend away with the wife and young 'un. Recon i will get more satisfaction out of it:thumbup:
  20. Nice one Dean, im with you. Just a shame all the confusion and uncertainty, has scared many into buying them:001_tt2:
  21. Thats about the top and bottom of how i read it:thumbup1: Only thing i would say is, on a removal of a Leylandii it would be still classed as a "whole tree". Its clippings/trimmings from hedge cutting they dont allow. Another point is, sawdust is also classed as virgin, BUT it must not contain contaminants, such as soil or gravel etc. Careful raking needed then:001_huh: Consensus achieved:thumbup:
  22. Tyres look a little solid Stevie:blushing: Is there an echo in here:001_rolleyes: I am real jelous really:thumbup:
  23. Ok, dare say i am going to get a lashing for this(sorry Ian), here is a direct link. This is publically accessible http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/static/documents/ps005_2077240.pdf Read on, and please feel free to comment. I feel it is very clear from this document what is what.
  24. I realise there is lots of this confusion and cross-quoting, but i would like to add a quote directly from EA that i have in writing. I believe this is not confusing but in fact quite clear so i have a copy of this in each truck. Please note "Whole trees"; The Environment Agency’s position Virgin timber is timber from: • whole trees and the woody parts of trees including branches and bark derived from forestry works, woodland management, tree surgery and other similar operations (it does not include clippings or trimmings that consist primarily of foliage2); • virgin wood processing (e.g. wood offcuts, shavings or sawdust from sawmills) or timber product manufacture dealing in virgin timber. Virgin timbers are not waste and are not subject to waste regulatory controls provided they are certain to be used for purposes to which virgin wood is commonly put. These include use as: • woodchip in gardens or on pathways; • a raw material for composting; • animal bedding; • fuel in an appliance; • a raw material for the production of wood-based products or in paper production. But if virgin timber is mixed with waste timber or any other waste, the mixed load is classed as waste. So, my view is, if the EA dont see "whloe tree" woodchip and logs as "waste" a WCL is not needed.
  25. On about my 5th pair of stihls now. just seem happy with them.
