  1. Re-reading your original post, how much bigger would you want to go and what is your budget?
  2. Some of the older greenmechs were terrible, but the Quad Chip is head and shoulders above any other machine in its class IMO.
  3. On a similar note, I believe Mitsubishi refused to repair some blown engines on L200s that had been used for constant towing on the grounds that they specify shorter service intervals for vehicles that tow a lot. Also worth checking out.
  4. How much of the power actually ends up at the cutter head? Generally hydro drive systems loose a fair bit.
  5. Worth it just so you are familiar with the test format, especially the stuff in the yard, and what they are looking for. For instance the reversing manouver is pretty easy, but they want you to finish with the end of the trailer in a 2 foot long box, without nudging the end barrier. A good instructor will show you how to do this without leaving the drivers seat.
  6. I wouldn't recommend it, the test is reasonably demanding and an instructor will give you lots of tips, without which I don't think I would have passed first time. A couple of hours tuition will cost about the same as a test anyway.
  7. I used to use Rodgers in worsley, just off the east lancs road.
  8. That will be why he's selling the chipper then, jobs finished!
  9. Late model d22 navaras had well documented engine problems, a few minutes on google should clue you up. For the money you are talking I would go ranger. Are you sure you can get child seats in the back of a supercab? I had to go for a double cab as there just isnt that much room in the supercab. Booster seat might be ok though.
  10. Are you using Chrome?
  11. Yup, that's me!
  12. Just a word of caution, if you set the prv too high it can damage other components, particularly ram seals. Many of the mass produced rams are only rated to 210 bar, but the powerpack will more than likely put out more than that. The prv is there for a reason.
  13. I generally give a verbal, then email a PDF. The written copy is more for my benefit, as I have a terrible memory and a habit of writing prices on old envelopes and then loosing them.
  14. Price is not the only deciding factor, especially on pruning work, even with new clients.
  15. Surely no-one is still sending clean timber or chip to landfill? I couldnt afford to pay for that even if I wanted to.
  16. Wild stab in the dark, Ashby-de-la-Zouch. There used to be a biscuit factory there where you could buy big boxes of assorted broken biscuits for about £5, if they are still there I could be quite tempted.
  17. Sounds like the end of the rod blown off to me, I had that happen on my crane log grab.
  18. If you put all that kit in one container you are going to struggle to lift it.
  19. The price will vary depending on the species diameter and quality. Whether it includes delivery or not depends on whether you need it delivered or not. The cost of the haulage will vary depending on the distance, so cheap timber a long way away will probably cost more than more expensive stuff closer to you.
  20. There is always someone cheaper wherever you are, the secret is to get clients who don't pick the cheapest quote.
  21. I did suggest they plant a new tree ASAP. Not sure if they will stretch to picus, but I have asked someone better qualified than me to take a look at it. Even the best photos don't give as good a picture as seeing it in the flesh.
  22. Reduction is what I recommended. Doing nothing isn't an option given the targets methinks.
  23. Crown is healthy, tree is in a lawn in a back garden. Slight lean toward neighbours property. Client has only been in property a few weeks. I suspect the lawn installation involved lowering the soil level around the tree and caused root damage. Bark sounds a bit flaky around the brackets but looks healthy everywhere else.
  24. Both really, tree is tpo'd and client is keen to retain as long as possible however there are some high risk targets.
  25. Sounds like Owen to me.
