  1. Nice to see a bit of old school hard graft! Glad it wasn't me doing it though!
  2. Be something like Bridgestone Dueller
  3. Once Iv submitted it I forget all about it until the consent letter comes through. It's a nice little surprise then, like a birthday card from an aunt you haven't seen for 20 years.
  4. The PP just delivers your application to the LA, once they are processing it nothing shows up in the PP. Your LA may have public access to planning apps on their website, I think most do now actually. You can look at current and past applications, and comment on live ones before they are decided.
  5. The King cab is a good compromise, 6' foot body and space behind the seats for coats and dinner.
  6. D40 Navara. Only way I'd have a defender is after a right arm amputation.
  7. Do you find condensation dripping is a problem?
  8. It's a real shame the Iveco massif never made it to the UK
  9. Mines up to 155k and going strong, fully expect to get 200k and then a second life in Africa.
  10. Good job mate. Plenty of hinge wood in there really.
  11. Does yours have the scissor and comb holders?
  12. 7 speed auto sounds good, don't know much about the 2.3 engine though.
  13. Yeah, he's under that manky pop.
  14. If it's leaning in the right direction you don't need directional control, it's not directional felling as such, you are aiming to release the tree to its lean as safely as possible. Don't leave too thick a hinge, it may barber chair. Other than that, as Tom says assess every tree on its own merits. Here's a particularly ugly customer I dispatched last year.
  15. The reality is that the majority of arborists don't bother with TEs, and even the ones that do don't do weekly inspections and keep written records, and also don't check all their kit before each climb. Out of all those thousands of people who don't comply with the law, only a tiny number will experience equipment failure resulting in injury.

    I am back

Welcome back Andy, all the best for your recovery. I know a couple a people who had bad strokes and made good recoveries, so don't give up hope.
  17. Amberon are nationwide, sure they have a depot fairly near.
  18. Any of you seen The Grain Divide? http://www.takepart.com/article/2015/02/28/hunter-gathers-ate-wheat
  19. Optional extra, called Twin-Trac
  20. You can't get the green labourer card with just a touchscreen test pass now, you can however get a white CRO card as a Horticultural Services Engineer.... Most companies that want CSCS now know about rolo etc and will demand the correct category on your card. Although AAAC may not have wide recognition as a SsIP you do get chas with it which is pretty universal.
  21. I did my training with Rob Blake. Level 3 Award in the Thorough Examination of Arboricultural Equipment (LOLER) - Blake Training When I did mine there were only 3 assessors for that unit, one up in Scotland, one pretty much retired, and Chris Cooper-Abbs. Things may have changed since then of course.
  22. Cinch is tested with ropes conforming to EN 892, not arb ropes. The fact that it isn't tested doesn't mean it won't work, just that it isn't tested. If it wasn't for bringing mountaineering, sailing, and parachuting gear into arb work we would all still be using 3 strand manilla and tieing our own harnesses out of rope.
  23. How do you annoy two pedants at once? Pm scent.

    trailers

Bateson for me, they will custom build pretty much anything you want.
  25. If you've got lane restrictions in place, then yes you can use them exactly as you would temporary lights. You can use one stop works sign like a school crossing sign though, and you can't do that with one stop go board.

If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
