  1. I might start this......tomorrow!
  2. Good sturdy little saw, tough as old boots, and reliable. Well worth the £200. Not a screamer like the similar size huskies, but good and steady.
  3. Sun shining here
  4. Me? I'm fine...just fine...honest! Had good long rest away from the trees and raring to go
  5. I was thinking it looked more like the Alpha male of a baboon troop, I don't mean that in a disrespectful way either, it just has that look! Wel to me anyway.
  6. As a former landowner with a plentiful source, and then buying in cheap wood from the MoD, he has no idea of real costs. I think this is his gripe. It is a problem, how much constitutes a "load"? What is good value? He simply has nothing to go by except for his experience of cutting up his own wood, or the cheap wood he has bought in from the MoD. He probably feels ripped off. The correct procedure for him is to attempt to rectify the issue with you first, not go to the local rag. However he now has gone down that route, without naming names he has libelled you by association, and you deserve the right to reply, and a full apology. The problem I see with this is that it will drag out the saga, keep it fresh in people's minds, and breed contempt. That could do more harm than good to your business. But maybe an article in part answering his claims, but justifying your product, explaining the costs involved in your production of the firewood from woodland to his woodshed may help others to see that you haven't plucked a figure from the air, and certainly haven't ripped anyone off. Perhaps a price comparison per log with the netted logs in Homebase et al. Make it an article worth reading, maybe humorous to a point, to use the publicity machine to your advantage. Good luck with whatever you choose, you've worked hard to get where you are now, don't let this berk knock you back. I don't really know the answer, but I think I would write that article.
  7. I do wonder re: David Goss last post how anyone can work around the HAVS regulations? Someone in LA employ, or other, please tell me? I've always just "got on with it" but this isn't the right way these days. Maximum exposure times have to be adhered to, but are they in the real world?
  8. Ive so far got some design apps and ID apps to help with some of the trickier stuff, or a ref point when the mind goes blank. So far I don't have any business based apps on it, I'll have to browse thru and see what I think I need..
  9. Isn't dumping hazardous waste into a water course illegal?
  10. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder bet their mum loves em!
  11. Buzzard, hobby and Crossbill chicks photographed whilst ringing for the RSPB. I seem to recall posting these elsewhere a while ago, but theyre so cute I couldnt resist a repost here.
  12. Pics from my mate, from a job I would have been involved in had things been different for me, and Crossbill chicks to be rung for the RSPB, Rendlesham Forest. The Cedar butt is approx 7feet wide, at its widest and slightly oval, so 4feet at its narrowest point.
  13. Loving hearing about your progress there Liam, good stuff, and good to see a young un immersing himself fully into his education keep up the good work, and keep us informed as and when you can. Bet your Grandad is well pleased for you.
  14. I'm currently sitting at home doing sweet chuff all, and have been for the last 6 months. Without my insurance payments, I am "earning" more at home than some of you are sweating your butt off, running saws and vans and paying for fuel every day. This is where things have gone wrong, seriously wrong. There s no way I should be better off than someone working for his keep. Some of you really need to re-evaluate yourselves and your lives, what are you really are worth. and those employing, ask yourselves what your guys are really worth to you. This economic blip will not last forever, things will turn around, and those who have kept workers on low minimum wages, yet turned a fat profit will lose out when the staff abandon them for riches found elsewhere. These things always happen in cycles, and it will come around again.
  15. I have to agree Dean, though I can't see smoke from the BBQ, or any evidence of alcohol. Good effort guys really
  16. Busy year in the show diary this year, Capels Celebration of Trees and the Countryside this month, the AA Show in June, FR jones show, the APF and probably more that I must have forgotten. So where are you going to?
  17. as seen on the video, the heads are poorly manufactured. I would steer clear of fibreglass handles, they degrade in time and fall apart, not worth the extra expense. A well maintained wooden shaft (not varnished, but treated with linseed oil) will keep it's strength and flexibility for years, and replacements are available everywhere, or you could even make your own. personally, if you wish to save a few quid, go around garage sales, boot sales and pick up a head for around 50p, fit a good quality wooden handle and learn to use it properly, it will last you years. Don't leave it out in the rain, don't leave it stuck in a log, wipe and oil it before putting it away.
  18. 4 cooked meals a day, my idea of heaven
  19. I would never ever do such a stupid thing without talking about it first D'oh!!
  20. My sister has a 3000 and a 4000,picked them up for next to nothing. Think she's doing her ploughing comps on them this year.
  21. How about a decent leccy chainsaw for carving? That would be a lot quieter. Nice hare Mutley
  22. Tbh I do very little with the iPad, other than surf the web, (read that as sit on Arbtalk all day!!) as I don't even know what apps are the best for what I need for tasks I don't even know I can do on it, if you catch my drift! Perhaps I should take a master class in ipadding
