  1. Cheers for that, any idea of prices?
  2. What a lovely gesture Liam, bet he was chuffed with those:thumbup1:
  3. I have the M300, and still impressed with it. The advantage of the M400 would have to be movable spout, quite often I have to wiggle about to get it to throw the chip where I want it. But other than that, it chips well, throws it well, and does what it says on the tin.
  4. Welcome, sorry cant help you, but there are a lot of like-minded souls out there on forum so hopefully someone can.
  5. Well, you cant have everything:001_rolleyes:
  6. I can recommend Steve Bullman as a very competent climber and experienced in rigging.
  7. I see myself in 5years time doing exactly what I'm doing now, and in 10years, the same, 20years I might retire and put my feet up and read a good book with a beer in my hand. I have no big ambitions or goals, I'm doing things I want to do, the way I want to do them..........at last:thumbup1:
  8. Still dont know if its going to happen, the Landscape Architect was supposed to meet on site on Saturday, but didnt show. Knowing the area where the tree is situated will have some sort of work done, I "crown-cleaned" the tree so I could assess it better, and also the mess is out of the way before the landscapers move in. Also top-dressed the root area with soil improver to give it a bit of a feed up. Now I just have to wait for the Landscapers decision.
  9. And yet the fact that you make no comment does in fact say something:biggrin:
  10. belated congrats mate:thumbup1:
  11. Nice quality work there Simon, loving that tree guard too. Such attention to detail is often missing these days in the rush to get onto the next jobs.
  12. Haha, I saw the local council "cleaning" up roadside clutter the other day, removing just this sort of thing, election stuff and all:laugh1: and to be very PC they removed posters for all parties
  13. So I take it no-one has polished any turds yet, given the replies????
  14. basically I'm in the same boat, I have an idea what it should come out like, if it doesnt I'll post a pic of a pile of chippings!!
  15. Maybe, but have you seen the price of a decent sized one lately? Moz, in a nutshell you summed it up. It isnt everyones cuppa tea, not sure its even mine, but its not any worse than anything else man inflicts on trees. If the trees talked they would tell us to take our saws and stick them where the sun doesnt shine. I do think I can create something with this, and otherwise it is a shabby specimen, and normally it would be removed, but the client wanted me to come up with ideas to incorporate it into his garden. Thats what we get paid for, customer satisfaction.
  16. While looking in a mirror?
  17. I did google it 1st, then I thought, "Hey!! there is this really great British Arb forum, with loads of helpful arbs out there full of top tips, so I'll ask them"
  18. I know, you have to be a salesman as well as an arb in this game. I've convinced the client, now have to meet with the Landscape architect to get him to draw it into his plans, as he hadnt thought of it!!
  19. Anyone done this, any tips or suggestions? Upcoming project I have will involve creating a Cloud-pruned tree from a rather manky looking thing. Reason for cloud prune is a Japanese theme to tie in with.
  20. They've just been talking on local radio about the chance of stunning sunrise/sunsets with this cloud of volcanic dust from Iceland in the atmosphere
  21. The best thing about suncream is when its really hot and muggy, and all those little black thunderbugs come out, and start sliding all over your neck and arms on the stuff, then die, not at all irritating
  22. Dulux Ice White?
  23. I had a similar thing with laurel in a blanket tpo on a woodland, the T/O agreed that it needed management, and it was agreed to coppice the laurel, along with planting hazel and other understorey plants to enhance the amenity of the wood. The laurel in this case was leggy and imposing up to about 25feet high. Only the trees (by definition) were covered by the tpo, but with the nosey-parker brigade nearby panicking as soon as a saw starts, he wanted to know exactly what was going to be done so as to arm himself for the barrage of angry phone calls
  24. I know exactly how your feel!! I picked up a glucosamine concoction over the weekend and started them straight away. The paracetamol/ibruprofen mix seems to help during the day now
