  1. Nothing much, just some demos, a bit of saw racing, just the usual really:001_rolleyes:
  2. That'll make a change!! Shame, I had a little "stunt" lined up for you:sneaky2:
  3. Ok spoken to LSD, this will happen albeit a bit ad hoc, but a get together only works if people get together, so if you want to come along for a chat, a climb or try to tie a knot or something, just come along and we'll see what happens.
  4. Tell ya what Liam, if I have time I'll give you a hand, sorry due to craptop issues the disclaimer was lost. Can you sort a gazebo thingy for shelter? I'll pm you my phone number.
  5. Colin:lol::lol:
  6. Given it was several days work, and the vid is less than 10mins long, I'm guessing Steve only used the highlights:sneaky2:
  7. Updtate, we're not going to formally have an Arbtalk gtg, but if anyone is going I'll be there at some point over the weekend, so if you want a chat let me know hen you're going and I'll probably see you there.
  8. Actually its a working day for me on a Sunday, you know preaching to the flocks and all that, its not all tree work you know:biggrin:
  9. You been eating those funny mushrooms again?
  10. Some from our little "breathing space" for the local community and the 1st pic is one of Mr Leach trellises put to good use (at last!!)
  11. Is this Hammer-time for the Hama? Will Penfold come to his rescue? Catch the next exciting episode and tales of derring-do here live on Arbtalk
  12. Good stuff, like the auto-return, I'll have to get my mate to adapt his now:thumbup1:
  13. One smooth operation, as I would have expected from you, and a quality video for others to aspire to. Very nice job well done:thumbup1:
  14. I must admit i had to have a little lie down after agreeing with you:lol:
  15. I have to agree with frank re: communication. Dont be daunted by the age gap, I'm a lot older than many climbers I work with, but as said, the climber is in charge up the tree and makes the calls. Of course it is teamwork, so be willing to listen to his point of view and experience too.
  16. I've always thought of modern day horse logging as gimmicky, something for the greenies to rave about. This opinion was probably reinforced when EDF had some extraction done with horses for an advertising stunt, then next day pulled the horses off and had big tractors in to get the job done quickly. But saying all this, its good to see the horses working properly alongside more conventional modern kit, keep up the good work:thumbup1:
  17. Another quality thread Tony, suddenly I'm getting interested in this topic!
  18. This is the kind of quality posting that puts Arbtalk right up there, keep it up Tony:thumbup1:
  19. Dont know if I'm reading this right, are you looking for tips and advice, or an experienced operator to help you with the job? If you are lacking in experience of this kind of work I would seriously consider the latter.
  20. Love the rocking chair!!
  21. I thought it a shame that the trees all had unsightly staking, given the client had a couple of bob going spare, they could have incorporated Platipus or similar to give a cleaner look. I agree a more formal water feature/area would have suited the grounds better too, and could have "flowed" into the other surrounding style.
  22. They'd probably hoped that would be edited out!! But it does show the precision needed to get things right on this kind of scale, and a simple error can manifest into a big mess quickly. I dont think its turned out to be a bad advert for the company concerned, they stuck at it at their own expense til they got it right, they didnt throw in the towel and jack in at the first hurdle, and the final result was spot on.
  23. Apparently I'm a tv gardening presenter, an American radio show host, an artist known for my "canvasses painted in luscious watercolours" Does this means I can put my prices up???
  24. Id like to see a vid of this kit shot from the groundies point of view as it doesnt look any different to any other climbing/rigging job from the air. Let him have the helmet cam next time:001_smile:
  25. I agree that effing and blinding isnt necessarily the best approach with people, but imagine his frustration at spending a decent wedge on a garden, and yet the guys on the ground dont get it right? Knowing you have TV cameras following the progress, you'd want it to be the best possible outcome. As to whether the job is worthwhile for the hassle, well if you do a good job and people see you on national tv, what better way to advertise your services.
