  1. I disagree, the people on tonights show were spending serious amounts of money to have their 'perfect" garden, and to end up making do with sub-standard work would detract from that. To try and line up the pleached hornbeams by sighting it up looking towards the house was not the best way. I'd have used sighting poles, theodolites and anything available to get it right. To have then re-planted them at all different levels was definitely not the best technique, and consequently they had to do the whole lot for a third time. The client is a perfectionist, pure and simple. Tom, (the designer) asked if I was interested in the tree planting side there, but then the client found his own guys to do the job, so I dipped out on that one:001_rolleyes:
  2. I looked at the bluetooth 2-ways last year at Justins show, and was impressed, but the cost put me off tbh. Just found these FM-based 2-way sets on fleabay and wondered if anyone has experience of them, and woud care to share their thoughts? SAFETY HELMET WITH 2 WAY RADIO FM COMMUNICATION HEADSET on eBay (end time 06-May-10 19:21:08 BST)
  3. Good luck Will, hpe you get sorted mate:thumbup:
  4. Ramblings of a madman:001_rolleyes:

Salary negotiable Apply to Bland landscapes Ltd on 01206 230882 email [email protected] Saw this advertised today in the East Anglian Daily Times, hope its of use to someone, sorry I dont have further details.
  6. I think it may be the harsher winter, dont forget many plants are 3-4weeks behind this year. It may have caught an icier blast in your garden, and with the sustained windchill caused it to remain dormant longer. My corkscrew willow is only now bursting the buds, last year they were out mid-April.
  7. Uk minch, I used to be just the same as you, Mr Disorganised, and it was only when our friends in HMRC called me in for a little chat that I woke up and smelled the coffee. Nw I have an accountant, everything is filed religiously to make her life easier, and that means if I need to reference something, I can find it quickly, so in the long run its actually quicker and easier for me not to leave it until the last minute. And I dont end up paying those nasty little fines any more:001_rolleyes:
  8. Thanks for you reply Nigel, no further questions yer 'Onour!
  9. Thanks for this info, ftr I cant see how on earth anyone can get anywhere near the blades. I have a long reach and there must be a further 4inches before I get anywhere near them (on M300) Has there been an incidence where someone has come into contact with the blades during the course of operation?
  10. He's doing what he is paid to do, and just that. But whether the papers should glorify it, i think not. Out there, he is the enemy too, he is a trespasser on their soil violating their people. As much as he is a hero over here, he is a villain to them. Anyone remember the top Iraqi sniper in the Gulf, he had one hell of a success rate, but we werent too keen on him!!
  11. Paul, you say "tipping costs" is this at a recycling centre ie processed for mulch, or landfill. if you had a chipper, would this mean you would need to rent extra space to store a chipper, and the chippings will require storage even short term?
  12. I just had a browse through their website, they do look a well-made ladder. One or two issues with larger ladder/step assemblies: 1) Transportation, you need a fair sized vehicle to carry these about 2) Weight, I notice many of the ladders etc are in the 150-200kg range, given that the max a man should lift is 25kg, how many crew will you put down on the risk assessment to manouvre these about on site? 3) Cost, you can get a half decent long reach hedge cutter for the price of these.
  13. When I started out, I found the most tiring part of big hedge trims was the over-reaching to get that little bit higher, or across the top. Yes the vibes on the long reaches can be bad, but nowhere near as bad as the straining to reach. Now with a selection of different length machines, it all seems very easy in comparison:001_smile:
  14. If you run a business from home office, even a corner of the kids playroom, the HMRC can and will come to your home during part of their checks. They like to see if you are buying up loads of antiques, paintings, and living in a style beyond your claimed earnings. This is irrelevant to whether you are sole trader, Ltd company or whatever.
  15. I have the liros dyneema throwline, store in a fishing bait bucket, get a tangle once in a blue moon, but way better than a stick!! I have a 12oz and 10oz on either end.
  16. Good to see the Eastwood crew still hard at it, though all the guys I worked with have moved on, and yeah the Mog is still a beastie:biggrin:
  17. Its the wrong colour!! you obviously fell for the wee Stevie hype Nice one Ady, welcome to the club:thumbup:
  18. Interesting job Steve, I love to share my vast experience built up over many years in the industry, but obviously that comes at a price:001_rolleyes: I know it seems obvious, and maybe not feasible now, but cant they drop the lines (ABC?) so you can zip over the top?
  19. Aaaaaah Bless!! So cute and stuff. Anyone got a marinade recipe for Moose?
  20. What is this upstart you speak of? Jo-beaus are King, the Greenmechs for queens:biggrin:
  21. Excellent news, persistance pays off. Hope it all goes well for you:thumbup1:
  22. His is a Brownie badge:001_smile:
  23. I do think some people like to use the letters after their names as a badge to show they've achieved something in life, however meaningless it may be to others. I'm not really in a position to pass judgement unless my "rescuing a brick in pyjamas" counts??? Seeing as I have naff all else to crow about:001_rolleyes:
  24. Good point Mrs Blair!!
  25. Didnt help much though did it?
