  1. Could be worth a bob or two then:lol:
  2. There could be an advantage to this, you see a pinboard with say 50 cards on, and all the tree ones will stand out because they all have the same logo, meaning the general public instantly identify with it?
  3. Please guys, try to be tolerant of newer members. What may seem obvious to the more experienced user is not so easy for beginners. New guys, try to familiarise yourselves with the forums functions ie Search, FAQs etc buttons along the top of the pages, and if you experience any problems posting please contact one of the forums moderators for further assistance and we will endeavour to help if possible. We want this forum to be a place for all involved in all aspects of tree work, or even just an interest in trees, and unfortunately not all are computer wizards. Thanks for your cooperation:001_smile:
  4. In addition to Steve's comment, dont forget, not everyone is as skilled in computer usage. What may seem obvious to some is not so easy for others to do. This forum is a great asset for everyone involved in this trade, lets try to help, we were all new to it once. Use the FAQ function if you arent sure how to do something on here ie: searching for help, How do I search for something? To quickly find a thread or post of interest anywhere on the bulletin board, click on the 'Search' link in the navigation bar at the top of most forum pages. Then, type in the keyword or phrase you wish to search for, and select either 'Show Threads' or 'Show Posts' to view the results. By selecting posts, you will be shown only the actual post in which the search word appears. For more control over the search, select 'Advanced Search' from the drop-down box. The advanced search page allows you to restrict your search to individual forums, find posts or threads by user, or return results based on tags (?). There are also options to find posts from a certain date, or threads with a certain number of replies. How do I search a specific forum or thread? If you are browsing a forum, you can quickly search for a thread or post within it by clicking on the 'Search this forum' link near the top of the page (it's above the list of threads). You can also search for individual posts within a thread by clicking on the 'Search this Thread' link at the top of any thread view page.
  5. Bigger is always better Stevie:biggrin:
  6. Hell you could fell a rain forest with that thing and never suffer from nasty 2stroke fumes again, no white finger, no noise and arms like a fiddler crab:thumbup1:
  7. S'funny, all the northerners I've had the pleasure of drinking with fall over before bedtime:lol:
  8. Whats the blue flower in 2nd pic? Here's a couple from today, 1st should look a bit like a Pyramid Orchid, 2nd I dont know.
  9. We have a huge pipe running from the north to help us keep our lawns nice and green!
  10. They hit every self-employed business around here, in their words "everyone tries to get one over us, so we get everyone". I dont know many people they havent investigated at some point. Believe me, you are guilty until they have proven you innocent. If you have any doubts abut what to claim, use an accountant, and if you cant afford that, ring HMRC and ask them, better to ask than get caught out.
  11. Bet they werent using Aspen 2stroke fuel:lol:
  12. I think he wants to start a new thread for the above, maybe he's not sure how to?
  13. I dont see the issue here, Aspen have made a trial offer open to us in order that we try their product. If you dont want to try it, then dont.
  14. Depending on wood quality, I'd be thinking of a figure of 25-30quid a ton if you're picking up, more if he's delivering in to you
  15. AR Drone Helicopters | Parrot AR Drone Helicopters | AR.Drone Helicopter Review just imagine the potential for this little bad boy:biggrin:
  16. To help the local thieves locate a handy supply of kit, someone elses at that? Personally I wouldnt.
  17. I have several hobby/farmers and others bring their saws in for a clean and sharpen, I charge 16.25 an hour (min 1hr) plus parts/chains etc, it surprises me how many cant be bothered to get the right file to do their own saws. I dont want to do it full-time, in fact cant think of anything worse, but it pays for a few beers come pub o'clock:thumbup1:
  18. Promised you these pics a while ago, hope the quality is ok.
  19. Shows a page error
  20. But how do you know that the ant at the top of the tree is the same one you saw at the bottom, they all look the same to me??? Now I know that as ants are carrying food, they share the load with their comrades, alternating as they tire, so perhaps on a big climb they climb to a stage, then let a fresh ant carry on the climb, repeating this until one ant reaches the top to gather the food, then do the same on the way back to get the food to the nest?
  21. Now I've always puzzled and pondered over this. You get to the top of a big tree, out on a limb somewhere, and there's ants etc. How long does it take an ant, without wings, to climb a tree? Has he climbed the tree, or has it taken several generations of ants to gradually move up and colonise the tree?
  22. According to parish records its around 700 years old
  23. If you take a line up from the tip of the bar, about a quarter of the way down into the wound was a flint about the size of a small bowling ball, you can see the dark patch where it was. As its in parkland with no targets, the decision to try and save the tree and reduce it to reduce the sail area was made. One big old lapsed vet!!
  24. Had this Oak to do today, in a con area, it had dropped a wee limb a couple of weeks ago, so TO gave permission to go ahead and reduce canopy asap. Thanks to Tim Green for your help today. 346with 15" to give scale to the wound
  25. My understanding is that you can claim for anything you wish, however if you are investigated, you need to be able to convince the taxman that your claim is valid (no easy task) I'd speak to your accountant about this:001_smile:
