  6. i've felled a number of trees where the decay wasnt as bad as what the picus had read, but it was there all the same.
  7. Well Arbtalk is 1 year old today everyone. Just want to thank all those who contribute and make this forum what it is.......hopefully the coming year will be equally as successful as the first:thumbup1: Oh and just a heads up, theres another photo competition in the pipeline to celebrate our first year, just need to finalize a few things, so get snapping in advance!!
  8. oh yeah haha, forgot about that. well the story goes that one of the previous owners of the state went on a tour of europe in 1860 and brought back a lot of exotic species that were subsequently planted around the gardens....we are guessing this may be a good indication of the age
  9. you're not going to beat a ladder for access on some trees, hairy limes for instance.....very hard to get a throwline up some of them.
  10. the only time you notice the weight of your spikes is when you lift them out of the truck to put them on. i wored steel for years, recently(3 years back) got carbons....sure they're sexy, but i dont think the lesser weight has made any difference personally.

  16. i have bolle, stihl, oregon, and the new stein. they are all decent glasses....they are all decent glasses IMO and last well. at the moment im using the oregons, stein sunglasses for driving.
  17. well to be honest, a lot of bigger companies are pulling out, so that could work in your favour. yellow pages could even go full circle again and be a worthwhile place to advertise....at least for a year or 2 till the word gets around! i stand by my first statement though
  18. there really is no loop holes either...ive discussed this numerous times....an insurance company will not accept that 1 party is not in charge....as far as they are concerned, if you give anyone ANY instruction whatsoever during the course of the day you require employers liability
  19. in fairness, it was an autistic centre

About

Arbtalk.co.uk is a hub for the arboriculture industry in the UK.
If you're just starting out and you need business, equipment, tech or training support you're in the right place.  If you've done it, made it, got a van load of oily t-shirts and have decided to give something back by sharing your knowledge or wisdom,  then you're welcome too.
If you would like to contribute to making this industry more effective and safe then welcome.
Just like a living tree, it'll always be a work in progress.
Please have a look around, sign up, share and contribute the best you have.
