  1. This guy is just mint…remind me how he got elected again? Not sure what’s funnier, his gaff or the press secretary trying to cover it up 😂
  2. The wall? It wasn’t always leaning obviously. Steadily got worse though
  3. There’s bits and pieces we aren’t happy with. The general quality of everything is poor. If you look at the skirting board funny then lumps fall off. Kitchen might have another 3 years in it before it starts looking pretty tatty. Our outside wall round the garden is falling over. Building company have been aware of it for nearly 2 years ago and it’s apparently ‘in hand’…will get a pic later. House itself is rendered which makes me wonder what the brickwork beneath is like. overall it’s just the unknown
  4. Help to buy has to be a massive money earner for the government. New house prices are at a premium anyway, and they know full well that most people won’t pay off the help to buy within the lifetime of the mortgage. They’ve seen to that by stipulating it can only be repaid in either 1 or 2 lump payments. So most people are going to end up paying the government £100 a month interest for a number of years, then when they eventually sell the government make a nice bit of profit from their percentage stake in the house
  5. We plan on moving about a year before our 10 year nhbc warranty expires
  6. Are eco plugs not an option?
  7. There will undoubtedly be those who do that. As I understand it though the tax breaks for the rich are also to encourage people companies to bring their business to the uk. I can sort of see it from both sides. It was obviously never going to be a popular decision with the poor though

  9. Since when did you shy away from giving your honest opinion? 😂
  10. Oh dear 🙄
  11. Or a fourth….you’re simply not worth what you’re asking
  12. They’re a tight arse?
  13. Yep. Just make sure to set the locations slightly different so the markers don’t overlap
  14. Well it’s free so you don’t have much to lose
  15. You’ll have more luck on a local Facebook selling site or something.
  16. To celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary, 50 employees from professional machinery and service provider, Lister Wilder pledged to cycle 55 miles by taking part in this year’s London to Brighton Cycle Ride. The event took place on the 11th September with over 4,000 participants taking part on the route that began in Clapham, London and finished at Brighton’s Madeira Drive. Lister Wilder set an ambitious target of £20,000.00 back in May 2022. With the event now finished the final total raised stands at £22,250.00 which was officially donated to LMRUK this last week. (pictured), with Service Director Neil Davis who chose the charity handing over the cheque. LMRUK invest in specialist research into stem cell therapies as a more effective treatment for blood cancer to help protect the next generation. The charity actively raises awareness of the signs and symptoms of blood cancer and encourages expectant parents to bank their newborn baby’s umbilical cord blood stem cells through its Model Cell Biobank service. “On behalf of everyone at the Charity I would like to say a huge thank you for the amazing amount that Lister Wilder have raised for us! Thank you to everyone who took part in the event, to those who supported them and those who donated, we can’t thank them enough.” “We would like to allocate the funds raised for one of our research grants. We fund researchers to advance their understanding of stem cells and how they can use them to treat blood cancer patients, particularly through stem cell transplants. All applications are assessed by the Research Review Committee to ensure that they are relevant to the Charities objectives, blood cancer and its treatment using stem cells. We would be honoured to call the grant, the Lister Wilder Research Grant.” Dr Joanna Tilley, Interim Operations Director “It’s been a real pleasure organising and taking part in this event” said Phill Hughes – Sales Director “We are delighted with the amount of money that we’ve raised for LMRUK, and are grateful to everyone that donated to us, both corporate and individually. To have a grant named after us is a real honour and made all the hard work and time that the team spent training for this even more worth-while.”
  17. I’m plugging away at it! 😀
  18. Feel free to steal that 😀
  19. Incidentally, if you look on the new map of freelancers theres plenty of climbers who haven’t shy’d away from putting their rates out there https://arbtalk.co.uk/find-a-freelancer/
  20. Typical conversation between me and a new client (when climbing) client: how much? That’s too expensive! me: have me in for the day, if you’re not happy with my rate at the end of the day then pay me what you think I’m worth, we’ll shake hands and I’ll go on my way with no hard feelings.
  21. Well my point was that as a self employed worker you need to set yourself on the position you want to be in. As for the people telling you you’re too steep, they are either not charging enough themselves to be able to afford you, or they are just chancers. More often than not the latter
  22. Also……no one put me in that position
  23. Well I’m offering somewhat different services these days, but yes I charge what I need to do a job. Certain things have a set price of course. As a climber I also set my own rate and whittled down my client base to the few that were happy to pay it
  24. Personally the only person who needs to know what I’m charging is the person I’m doing business with. What anyone else’s day rate is is entirely irrelevant really. Everyone brings something different to the table and has their own set of circumstances and overheads and need to set their rates accordingly
