Dog damage to trees

I'm not a dog owner, so have no concept why the chavy "weapon" dog brigade, need to train their mutts on tree branches, beyond the obvious.

But it ain't arf mind numbingly stupid and incredibly anti social

I'm thinking that our constabulary dog handlers should retrain these "status" dogs to chew on some chav meat instead.

The following is a quote from a London Tree Officers guidence note on Dog damage to Trees. The figure is based on the CAVAT sytem of tree valuation, from one borough over a twelve month period............

"Damage caused to trees by dogs is increasing in the

capital. One London borough estimates the damage

caused to its own trees is in excess of £1 million."

(I'm aware of the branch canker, btw)

sorry for my stupidity, but how does a dog reach the branch in the bottom pic?

The dog owner will pull the branch down, get the dog to grip it and then the dog has a pulling match. The branch will give and then whip back if the dog relaxes, a bit like a spring, the dog fighting people will train their dogs on a tyre and spring to build up the muscle. The youth's that buy these dogs as status symbols will be trying to impress each other.

I was thinking the same, but mindless morons with too much time on their hands get up to all sorts I suppose. :confused1:

As CJ quite rightly elludes to, the branch on the deck has been pulled down for the dogs training, then under a frenzied assault gets ripped off the parent branch above.

A tame example below, but imagine the owners actually going out of their way to do this in a public place of calm.

Morons is very apt

Sickening.

We removed several mature cherries in a park in Ramsgate that were dead/dying after being ringbarked by these tossers training their 'attack' dogs.

The owners need putting down.

very true Mark, these idiots give the dogs a bad name.

stick them in a cage with the dog and see who feeds first!!!! would make a good reality tv show that.
