After years of using the wee flat files, that don't last, I started using a large file like Jackalope and then bought a bar dresser 2 years ago and it is excellent, I was a bit dubious of the cost of replacement files but I'm still using the same one, I do take burrs off first (slight bevel) to help keep the 90 angle

Thanks. Yes I have been using large files but the engineering sort. Thought Jackalope mentioned carpenters files which are designed for wood :001_huh: Sounds like it might be worth getting the dedicated tool if the files last so well. And yes I do knock of the corners with a couple of strokes after squaring up the edge.

A decent file alone was at least a tenner so thought I might as well get the proper tool for the job.

Hi guys i use a bar dresser £30 is expensive but after you buy it once you the cab just buy the file because you already have the handle put chainsaws bat dresser in Google and you will see a variety of them mine in vallrobe last quite long two

Bought one of those about 20 years ago . Found it a faf and just use a file now . Having said that dont use a file much now as dont seem to get much burring on Sugi bars .
