The 'buzz' phrase of the moment is 'Point of work risk assessment'. That is to say, the site specific risk assessment may be done prior to the job being undertaken, possibly when it is priced. The Point of work assessment is done on site, on the day, immediately before starting work ( and should take about 10 minutes), by the working team. A quick Google search will chuck out a number of examples, including one on the HSE website (http://www.hse.gov.uk/construction/engagement/taskcard.pdf), though prettier ones are available.

I think this one is most important Stuart.

The one we did yesterday had to include 360's and dumpers moving about, as well as scorchio weather conditions, none of which were present at initial site visit.

all my risk assesments are done on site prior to starting work, to many variables to do them any other way, even the weather affects the outcome of some decissions

Our RAMS are tick box generated on the computer, enough content to make any site agents eyes glaze over and launch them into the filing cabinet. Real time wont work for us because none of our guys cant write.
