In the summer price in the evenings if poss.

Saturdays in the winter or if I can't go in the evenings.

I try not to moan about having too much work to look at.

Sounds a bit "mumsnet"

Don't go if you don't want to.

Do you go on mumsnet as well, Mick?

I certinly aren't complaining about being busy, and doing quote on a night is sometimes a must as quite a few domestics want to see you especially if it a job of a thousand bits, commercial clients are only through the day any way, I'm just trying to see how others manage there time, the office side of things isn't a problem I get in there when it's an easy day it's the actual traveling around that's the hard bit to sort.

Make yourself the 'extra man' rather than a key part of the team. Then you can go off and do a few quotes through the day and give the lads a hand or fix something etc when needed. This is what I do currently with a view to getting a team together who do not need me at all, quoting exclusively through the day where possible and getting somewhere near a normal working day in the next few years.

Don't know how you lot do it.

Normally I'm a PAYE team leader. The managers off this week, so I'm managing the schedule for that time and also doing quotes.

Pair that with being the currently only productive climber and I'm starting to wear thin.

Is tomorrow Friday?

Still, I've taken the first critical step to management. I'm already a borderline alcoholic.

As for people who will only see you in the evenings, you need to be desparate for work if you are doing this a lot I think.

That's getting close to what I was thinking....

All good stuff (Esp MB's first post!)

There was one key piece of advice I received early on and I've spoken and seen quite a few micro/SME types that have agreed since - for the sake of your own sanity / health / relationship, learn when to say no! Easier said than done I know!

There was that thread a while back about how folks deal with not getting the job after quoting - from memory, it was a good read.

Learn when to say no, or perhaps to put it another way choose your potential customers wisely. Don't waste time on chancers, bargain chasers and dick heads.

Make every minute count and try to spot the time wasters before they waste your time.

No it's groundhog day so it's Monday for the near future.
