Stihl MS 341 chain

Not sure about the 341 but the 340 was at the cross-over point where less powerful saws used .325 chain and more powerful ones used 3/8, so you could choose which pitch chain to run.

Stihl .325 uses 4.8mm or 3/16"

Stihl 3/8 uses 5.2mm or 13/64"

Oregon 3/8" uses 5.5mm or 7/32"

Might all sound a bit pedantic but it is the difference between scraping, gouging or cutting just right!

Regards

Ben

My bad here, i just assumed the 341 had 3/8 fitted standard, but you are correct, i believe they were also available with .325!

i only carry 3 sized files. id be using a 7/32 for that chain despite it being the wrong size.

is that the right answer or the wrong????

Problem is no one knows what sort of chain is on this saw

is it oregon or stihl or 3/8 or 325 like mine

as there all different

it always amazes me how little regular saw operators know about sharpening and saw maintenance:thumbdown:
