Fluid Intake

Too much sauce in the summer evenings can ruin the next day for sure.

Two or three pints in the pub after work, then crack open the wine after dinner.

Then back in the pub again after work because you're feeling a bit rough.

Rinse and repeat.

The thing is acclimatisation aswell, to us the current heat is extreme if it was a constant average we wouldn't even notice. When in Afghanistan after four to six weeks it was still bloody hot and awful but you started to find it normal and dealt with it better and the need to throw water down your neck rapidly and constantly become less. Beware too much water and washing the salts out, dioralyte or rehydrate tablets in at least one of your bottles is a must for me.

Smart water helps has got electrolytes and minerals in so keeps you topped up, I've also found I drink more using my camel pack, think it holds 2 or 3 litres and keeps it cool too.

Smart water costs as much as petrol.

Dioralyte for the really hot days like today, water for the remainder of the year.

Dioralyte is also great when you've had a few beers and don't want too feel like Shane McGowan's toilet the morning after.
