Looks like I'm going down a internet rabbit hole later, I understand it's low grade timber formed into panels and highly insulated like a wood version of a cavity wall but in Lego block sections.

So what's the difference other than the wood to say a well constructed breeze block and blown cavity ?.

Now you're asking! It's about ten years since my wife last worked with it (kids and life and all that).

Firstly, it's a massive carbon store. Secondly, low grade timber is something that's grown in large quantity in the UK. The climate produces fast growth, low quality timber. Thirdly, wood is naturally insulative, whereas breeze block is a thermal bridge. Fourthly, wood is hydrophilic, and plays a part in moisture regulation of the internal environment. Not the case with masonry.

There are loads more, but those spring to mind.

Well there is that, but another example would be construction workers.

I remember my brother saying that they had to dramatically up the wages of construction workers on their engineering site just to keep them as the exodus of European builders meant there was a serious shortfall on the housing developments.

Brickies weren't exactly on minimum wage before hand!

That’s one of the reasons I voted leave, brickies might not have been in minimum wage but the wages weren’t exactly great, now sites are having to pay proper wages to get lads on site.

Before Brexit a brickie was doing well to make £200/day.

Would you be happy putting in a back breaking day for less than £200?

Utter bollocks.

I’ll go head to head with any remoaner any time any place.

I'm unfortunate enough to have to mix on a social and professional level with loads of lame assed brexmoaner pessimists on a day to day basis.  Without exception, every time I’ve had a conversation with these types they roll over and submit……

Flunitrazepam Is a wonderdrug 😂

My main issue with any Brexit discussion is you can’t even ask the question “What benefits have you seen so far?” without people spitting their dummies out and calling you a remoner or that somehow you are being unpatriotic.
Its like showing even a tad of empathy for the Palestinians automatically labels you an antisemite, very strange.

Yep, very much agree.

If there was a single, solid benefit of Brexit, the Tories would have been shouting it from the rooftops. Their silence is very telling.

The benefits that Andy described J are a good enough start for me. Less dependence upon ready made cheap imported Labour and a drive to train or apprentice our youngsters, surely that is better than watching a locust type clearing out of various Eastern European countries skilled workers to benefit businesses at the expense of our own.

We did have apprenticeships before Brexit, my nephew became a sparky on one.
Andy says there are more apprenticeships now though, so it must be true.

🤷‍♂️Of course they were around but the  numbers of apprenticeships and the incentives to train local Labour dropped massively after free movement. That is an undeniable fact and nothing to do whatsoever with what Andy said. I’m genuinely pleased  your nephew succeeded. I witnessed the decline of the numbers Scottish lads for a particular firm we used for successive vessel mobs post free movement and heard it first hand off their manager, cheaper to hire welders as and when required on an ad  hoc basis through an agency specifically dealing with Eastern Europe welders/platers etc etc rather than train people and offer them the benefits of a full time job and a career. Since Brexit I’ve witnessed an about turn and seen young lads starting to turn up once more.
You might not like the Brexit result but I’d rather see what I’m seeing now than what I’ve watched happen previously.
