"Correlation Firearms and Firearm Deaths
The correlation between firearms and firearm deaths is a significant concern in various regions. Studies have shown that higher levels of gun ownership are associated with increased rates of homicide, particularly firearm homicide. This relationship is observed across high-income countries and even when the United States is excluded. The evidence suggests that where there are more guns, both men and women are at a higher risk for homicide, particularly firearm homicide."

There actually is not.

There is however a inverse situation where by the low incidence of legal firearms ownership in inner city area's results in the highest incidence of illegal firearms use. The UK and America are prime examples of that.

Have you actually and kin idea of what you are going on about Steven?

A quiet day in the office no doubt Mike. No need to worry about productivity when you are in the public sector. We all know banning handguns in the UK has had zero impact on actual gun crime. The law abiding handgun owners were useful scapegoats for monstrous police failings after Dunblane.
Most people don’t even know about Hamilton being found in possession of an unlicensed weapon, never mind being able to construct an unbiased opinion.

This is sadly a familiar pattern.  After the atrocities on March 15 in New Zealand the then Labour government moved swiftly to ban most semi automatic Rifles,to worldwide acclaim. Here is what actually happened.

1) The labour government had removed the requirements to be a NZ citizen in order to gain a firearms license.

2) District police commanders had pillaged the firearms licencing budget for their own pet projects,to the point where Brendon Tarrant was interviewed via Skype and his two character referees only knew him from an Internet chat room

3)The SIS ,New Zealands version of MI5 had their request for more funding refused and their budget actually cut under Labour. Tarrant had fought in Ukraine in the Azov Battalion,so maybe he would have been flagged as a potential risk.

Instead gun owners were scape goated, evidence was sealed for 100 years followed by a rash of retirement by senior police.

Sound familiar?

Also on the internet.

Important considerations
  • Correlation vs. causation: It is crucial to remember that correlation does not automatically imply causation. There may be other underlying factors at play.
  • Different types of gun deaths: The correlation between gun ownership and deaths can be viewed differently when considering different types of firearm deaths. For instance, while gun ownership is linked to both homicide and suicide deaths, the specific drivers and potential policy solutions may vary.
  • International comparisons: Comparing countries with different levels of gun ownership can be complex. For example, a country with strict gun laws may still have high firearm death rates if those laws are not effectively enforced, or if there is a high rate of illegal gun trafficking.

Cheers for the concern guys.

This has been on the cards for a while, the old fat jab sales are up I bet.

To be honest I think it’s a valid concern, tends to be directed more at the rig  based 2-2/3-3 guys on long term gigs on the same platform for years.
Us freelance scum on DSV’s etc have it slightly different.
Thankfully the annual dive medical is pretty strict so keeps lads in my industry on their toes. Mind you I’m definitely heavier since being in dive control rather than the water, but I still hit the gym or get the pads on often.
There should be a lot more of that in society in general, state of some police and NHS chubbers I see for example. Office workers in the public sector a proper source of concern.
