No it’s what I said !!
So no explanation then it would seem.

That's the problem, a couple of days back, seems like a lifetime, you got totally lost when I quoted you and got all het up thinking I said it when it was your words. Just a bit of preamble to set the scene.

Right, ID cards and why the government are introducing them. Here's a screenshot of the reason, as you seem to like a screenshot...

the important part is "to work in the UK " not as you said (this is your quote)...

"So all of us who live here legally already with NI numbers and multiple forms of Verifiable ID being mandated to carry digital identification will stop those crossing the channel “illegally”  "

Can you see the difference?

To quote another member “ Obfuscation “ alert ‼️

Care to explain how you see this actually working. I’ll try again eh seeing as you are struggling.
So you are now saying it’s actually to stop them working once here and not actually deter illegal cross border immigration 🤷‍♂️

Are you that naive to believe that those hiring or working illegally won’t continue to do so.

I knew I shouldn't have started.

No I'm not saying it's to stop illegal working, its the government saying that.

It is part of the government's strategy to stop or slow down illegal migration, it isn't a stand alone strategy. Start with making it harder for people to get employment and the uk is not a good place to go to for those who want to exploit the system, on top of that I'm sure that the laws around employers who have illegal workers will be tightened. This will have a knock on effect meaning less opportunity for criminal activities such as tax evasion and money laundering and human trafficking.

I'm trying to show you how I see it, however you are the one putting up incorrect statements and barriers saying "how will it work?"

No obfuscation, I have said from the start I want to make it as clear as possible for you.

I’m trying to understand how it will do anything different than the NI number and anti fraud checks already in place. At best it’s a red herring to make it look like something’s being done, at worst it’s another way of mandating something which will later be exploited (legislation/law already in place will make it easier to impose future control/restrictions.
