  1. Price would be the major difference - only looking at one for semi regular use on particular jobs. As you say lack of parts etc may prove a false economy
  2. Thanks mate, that was my thinking behind purchasing one - feeding hedgerow using a digger and with the drawbar dragging it along aswell. As mick has suggested have you fixed it in position or it functions just fine as is?
  3. Hi all, Are these chippers reliable and as bombproof as they look?
  4. Jake will have paid Tyson bare bucks to take the knee (Tyson doesn’t care/has nothing to prove), and on his reign will continue he’s doing everything to not actually face a current contender because if he does so ends his hype/boxing career!
  5. Hi Nathan, is this domestic or commercial work?
  6. Any subbies available for 2 days work before the end of the month? £350 a day (more like a day and a half, so job and finish on the second day). Thanks
  7. Hi mate, got any feedback for us? Much appreciated
  8. Lady in red - great choice
  9. The thing is they clearly can otherwise the market where you live wouldn’t be saturated. Unfortunately when you have a very low barrier to entry to a career the wages are never going to reflect what you think you’re worth. On the plus side if you can wait it out with your 100k of kit and years of experience the market will eventually bottom out in your area. Strung out companies/operatives will leave the market allowing you to then charge a premium for your service, happy days!
  10. Slight fallacy, you trade in a free market but the market dictates what your services are worth. Yes, you can run higher overheads and want to be paid more but that doesn’t mean you will (otherwise we’d all be rich). We could all band together under one company and force a monopolistic market - then we really could set the rates.
  11. Is the industry as a whole made up of masochist’s?
  12. Morning, yeah that was my thought. Lazy movement on anything tracked means new motor/pump generally. I ran a trencher on my 925tx which was great and as you say higher lpm, as you say 38lpm is likely to stall a lot but might be ok for the right job (virgin ground). Trencher wise 6” width x 24” length although could get smaller if available. I was wondering about the availability of parts and whether can source alternative pumps/motors but guess mounting/space would be the issue. Just was thinking for the right price might be worth a punt as generally speaking looks in good condition for its age.
  13. Anyone had any experience with a Thomas 35dt? Not looking as a full Time material handler more wanting to put a small chain trencher on it - the hflow seems good enough to run some attachments for the odd job.
  14. Hi all, Any recommendations to who could fit one of these to my 2019 hilux, bonus if they could also upgrade my springs as well. Preferably Gloucestershire but will travel within reason. Many thanks,

No problem, I know a couple of guys who work all over London fencing if you ever need a company to take on a job (all types of fencing)

Most of Londons back gardens were walled gardens and you won’t get far with an auger due to remanent foundations. Personally nails for me as they will move with the timber/fencing but certainly screws at first for easy adjustment. Take lots of pictures before and afters as it’s amazing how quickly comments/disputes arise. Customers always right but really push for good quality panels etc as wickes,Selco etc sizes are all over the place and gravel boards, post, panels being 1,2 inches different gets annoying quick. oh and dewalt 240v breaker (sds) great breaker and can get long bits to save the back and use like a traditional jackhammer.

Did an awful lot of fencing in London, as has been advised not a great deal to it and the main hassle will be dealing with opposing property’s plants/trees/garden ornaments. I’m presuming you mean domestic fencing opposed to commercial? As Mick has said make sure your guys don’t mind digging holes and lugging postcrete and using a handheld breaker (a lot) as if they’re in the tree game can’t imagine that would be attractive. I travelled all over and my prices varied depending on finish but was really good money in it especially if you get in with property management companies. Waste isn’t a problem just subby a tipper lorry and a man don’t mess around with that, and get materials delivered to the property.
  18. Thanks all for your comments. I think the main problem we have is due to ground conditions on the cut and collect site we need something real beefy. I’d be interested in the omarv due to the m3 and noted on cutting width. I need to get some demos in and will let you know, need to stream line current process as we’re asked to cut and remove arisings on all sorts of land (current method tractor flail and rake with excavator).
  19. I won’t pretend that I didn’t find this out the hard way! Primarily I’ll run it behind smaller tractors however we get asked to remove larger areas throughout the ecology season so a more comfortable machine/cab would be great. Pto will be beefed up regardless so thanks
  20. Yeah, my experience is with rytec and as you say their capacity lets them down. Omarv models carry quite more m3 but never seen them over here. I’ll be running them behind a Valtra t/n 174 or when required alpine tractor
  21. Anyone had any experience? How good are they at collecting mixed grass/bramble etc and how robust are they?
  22. I should have added…. Feel free to message me and I can fully explain the path to take (well the one I took anyway, i have class 2 and undertake tree roost assessments). As Anno suggests there’s lots of work out there for field surveyors(volunteer or paid) who undertake dawn/dusk/activity surveys which will give you a good grounding.
  23. You will need a natural england class 2 license to undertake tree roost assessments. This will require you to undertake bat surveys which you will only be able to do working under someone who is a license holder. It’s not something you can just do a course on and normally takes at least a couple of years of fairly consistent survey work as you need people to provide references for your license applications.
  24. Taking everything into account you've said just pass it on or merlo & heizo for a day and you pm (you can organise ground protection and supervise). Depends who’s local and obvs hard to tell scale from photos but looks like an easy/straight forward job for the above kit. Plenty of ways to skin a cat though and if you were to do it, I’d work a little smarter and at least get a tractor or 3t exc in to help stack/move timber.
