So you want a President.

Our head of state is the queen, which is great as it means we don't need a president.

The PM is just the leader of the winning party and can change with no need for a general election.

What would be the point of a leader with no party behind them to get bills passed?

What a ridiculous idea, we would end up like the USA

No i dont want a president,i want a voting system where the electorate can vote for a prospective prime minister not a local MP.

Obviously each candidate would represent a particular party...i didnt think i would have to explain that..its pretty obvious.

I have thoughts on our soveriegn but that a whole different thread

So you want the whole system to hinge on one person :001_huh:

I like the fact that parties put forward a manifesto and have to find representatives for each constituency. It makes westminster at least give us a little thought.

I also like the fact that those representatives have the power to remove the PM if enough of them think its necessary.

Oh ffs...really??

Here it is as basic as i can describe it ok

Take our political system as it is with each party voting in its leader and having a manifesto-all that stays the same.

The key difference here is at the ballot box where you vote for the leader of each party and the party/manifesto that they represent not a local MP.

Local MP elections would be a seperate vote altogether.

I cant put it much simpler

So basically in YOUR system, we would all vote for the leader of the party we favour and THEY would choose who represents MY area…………………………………. yeah, right thats sound like such a great idea……………………………….. I don't think :001_rolleyes:

Its funny how the losing side are so fast to find fault with the system :sneaky2:

Nope...wrong again -voting for your local MP would be a seperate election.

:confused1:

So you vote for a local MP and a PM, which vote would trump the other?

And if the local MP you vote for is in a different party to the PM you vote for how does that work?:001_huh:
