Do you think this is a wise move ? After all these folk don't give a damn about the law and will you be able to protect your father when the guy comes to his door and demands his money? It was £130 !! Not £1300 he may of done a bad job and you could of done it 10 times better, personally I would let it go.

 

Thing is he did not want the job done . badly or otherwise .

Hi Stubby. I sorry to here what's happened to your dad. After stopping the cheque I would take some pictures of the mess copy them and post them with a letter to the bloke explaining who you are and that you have stopped the cheque. Ask him if he would like to meet and justify his bill.

For £130 I'd leave it.

 

Or if you feel strongly enough go to Trading Standards with your story.

 

You can be fairly certain that if this guy does have any "mishaps" the police will be looking at this thread.

I've some taps that I want fitted to my bath. A decent plumber could probably do the job in twenty minutes. I'd still consider that £50 to do the job would be a fair price.

 

I don't think £130 to cut a tree down and cart it away is an unreasonable sum (admittedly I haven't seen it though).
