I meant with saws actually doing the job earning a few quid which this kid appears to be doing.

Anyway, don't worry about the climbing thing, keep your hand in with some reccy climbs, but tell someone where you are or don't do it alone.

 

I used to find a tree with a reasonable spread, anchor in and go the the end (or as close as I could reach comfortably) of every branch to improve my route management.

There was no hurry, took as long as I liked.

I'd just go climb some trees at your local park. If anyone kicks off, politely explain you can't hear them and you'll have have a chat when you've finished. It's not uncommon to hit a wall and fear is to be welcomed and managed. You are, after all, swinging around up a tree. Good luck mate.

Well done mate, if your investing that much in a job you have only just begun in you will go far. Fear is a good thing it keeps you safe, it makes you stop and think. I assume you come from a tree family? Remember to play safe, and have a second climber on site. As long as you listen n learn from those who have seen it all before you will be a asset to any tree team looking at how far you've got for your age
