If the Zigzag fractures they give you another one for free..

Not to mention its the early models that had a problem.. MK3 seem to have got it right...

Anyway, whats stoppin people having both options... somethin you can have if you have a Zigzag to hand..

Ive got both and 8 times out of ten i use the hitch climber, zigzag is great(as ive said before) but i just prefer a knot in my fingers.

Horses for courses and all that

I have both. Mainly use the zigzag as its so convenient. Make sure you get the mk3 as the mk2 is prone to cracking around the linkages. I haven't heard of any cracks appearing on the mk3 so far.

The hitch climber is also a great system and as previously mentioned the hitch can be tuned to suit your climbing style.

Hitch climber for SRT converting to DRT when useful, zig zag when SRT has little advantage. I find zig zag is less tolerant when filthy and covered in sap/resin.

Agree Zig Zag is smooth for drt so long as its clean enough.

I've found the opposite personally, nothing worse than a gunked up friction hitch, except maybe getting hit by a bus
