When sectioning down and drop cutting limbs always check where the end of the limb you are cutting goes, as it could be fused with the one above and tear that off, landing on top of you or could tear our your anchor point.

slowly top cutting smaller limbs can let the branch fold under, away from potential hazards, leaving the but facing away from the tree on the ground. wood species dependant though

when reducing privette hedge with a saw, tighten the chain up more than usual to prevent the chain getting knocked off.

watch out when cutting through string or twine with a stihl, it can tangle up and knock off the circlipp that holds the clutch on, you might pull out the string, and you will be able to carry on but it will all just fall apart and the roller bearing will get wrecked, and the chances of finding all the parts are slim.

always make sure your saws engine is going to fit into the fork before starting to knock out a stem, you dont want to get half way through and realise you cant finish the cut.

sycamore is brittol, dont rely on the hinge for slow leaners, to much pressure and it will just snap, have the guts to cut level right through to your hinge and let the constant momentum take it over.

birch can make you look like a magician.

oak is fine unless the sap is just starting to fall, can be very brittol at this stage.

avoid cutting up something multi stemmed til last as it will be full of crap and wreck the saw.

Even when cutting small stuff you need to watch out, as if the tip off the branch you are cutting is caught in the branch above, it can swing out away from you and into a target you are trying to miss
