The establishment Republican party couldn't stop Trump.... I personally don't see Clinton stopping Trump either...

 

In Austria last week a right wing candidate got the most votes for President (the two traditional parties have been knocked out). imho there seems to be a seismic shift towards right wing parties and politicians..

 

I spend a fair amount of time on the Guardian website. I think it fair to say that public opinion has changed on things like immigration and multiculturalism.

Don't assume that the political right endorse the kind of fascist xenophobia that is espoused by Trump. As a teenager I used to be very left, I'm now not and would position myself right of centre (small state, low taxes, private healthcare and education are all things I support) but I also support measured multiculturalism. I am not saying that we have it right now, but closing borders and building walls (figuratively and literally) is not the right way to go.

Unfortunately I can understand Nigel Farages appeal to the "baying Mob" of mostly uninterested/uneducatable Popular Opinion.

Just like Hitler appealed to the screwed over Germans , screwed over by the excessive & humilating reparations, in the hungry 1930's.

Perhaps you could use your superior intelligence to tell us how accepting millions of EU migrants into the UK improves our quality of life? It should be easy for someone as intelligent as you! The disadvantages of mass migration are fairly obvious: ie

 

1. Lower wages,

2. Pressure on public services such as schools and the NHS,

3. Building on greenbelt to house them,

4. They cost the taxpayer more than they pay in tax.

Other countries have been allowed to vote on the EU in referendums. We've not had a EU referendum since 1975.

 

How many decades have traditional political parties been promising to reduce migration?
