'Modified' vehicles.

Hi All!

So I've come around to the point where I need to insure my pickup for business use. Knowing how insurance companies love to have a reason to not pay out, I've been completely honest about any vehicle modifications; only got a Truckman Top and an orange flashy-light but apparently because these were installed by the dealer and not the manufacturer they are classed as modifications.

I've gone down the 'gocompare' route but am getting back some silly quotes. Given my ambitions to fit a winch, etc, this is only going to get worse.

Surely I'm not alone in having this kind of 'modification' - what do you all do?

I'm over 40 with no convictions and 10+ years NCB.

Cheers!

Both my land rovers are modified ( winch, lift kit, tyres, I for top. ) was told once 1 modified iterm is listed and its classed as modified you can add what ever as long as you let them know. Adrian flux insurance is best to talk to.

I have heard good things about NFU but my experience is its hit and miss depending on your local office. My one is a 'miss' unfortunately and couldn't even be bothered to come back to me despite chasing.

Yep. Had the same problem with my local office a few years ago.

I don't like chasing people when I'm owed money. I like it even less when I'm trying to part with my money.

Hard to give your money away sometimes isn't it!

I used arborisk who put me generally on Aviva policies. Not always the cheapest but you get a reply to emails on the same day and when I've had to make a claim it was swift and straightforward.

Specialist tee surgeon insurance eg trust insurance, Arborisk, or else NFU. Don't bother with gocompare etc they are a scam

We have a policy with gocompare, they were the cheapest I could find without loosing the will to live, what scam are they running?

Just used a High Street broker who found one of the cheapest, told them when we fitted front towbar, had an extra driver added then had it signwritten, all for no extra. Strange how some seem satisfied so long as you tell them re mods.
