Big Trees. Photos please.

Feels like it today, had a similar tree to deadwood and generally muck about in, stiff all over now.

I always look forward to deadwooding big hardwoods.

I have no idea why. It's usually bloody hard work, tons of climbing and there's always far more than you think.

Like you, I normally feel like I've been beaten afterwards.

Big Baobab in Zambia...

 

You can see someone inside the tree in the second pic. This tree was known as the poachers tree. Before a large piece fell off there was a cavity the size of my living room inside with a carved window. The third picture is of a smaller but no less spectacular Baobab.

what saddens me about those photos is the fact that it used to be lush forest all around those tree till the lot got felled. there was no use for the baobab so they got left behind.

I'm not aware of that being the case in this area, its quite remote. Elephants can do a lot of damage in some areas when it gets dry and they get hungry. The Baobabs are more grass than tree and can tolerate a lot of munching which is why they survive here.

That is one beastly baobab. The closest I have ever been to one is when I made an elephant enclosure in Zoo Tycoon...

This monster Banyan in Vanautu was one of the biggest trees I've seen and upside down.
