Stihl 2 stroke oil

Only have used the stihl red, use a fuel stabilizer and pretty much follow Stihls recommendations as reproduced below and have had no problems. Interesting their comment about using the HP Ultra oil with E10 petrol:

 

If the proper precautions are taken, however, gasoline containing a 10% quantity of ethanol can safely be used in your STIHL products.

 

• Use a minimum of 89 octane gasoline and always use fresh fuel. Only buy enough gasoline that you can easily use up within a two month period.

 

• For air-cooled, two-cycle engines, use a quality mix oil that meets the engine manufacturer’s recommendations. All STIHL oils are designed to readily mix with gasoline containing 10% ethanol. STIHL HP Ultra Oil is especially suited for use with E10 gasoline.

 

• Shake your gas can well when first mixing the oil to thoroughly disperse the oil in the fuel mixture.

 

I think Stihl Green already has a stabiliser in it.

Yers; I am an authrorised Redline stockist. Poly-ol-ester basestock; there is nothing better.

What quantities do you sell it in Jon?

 

I've a few bottles left, but they're something daft like 473ml!

Why is that?

 

We have had more than enough customers that have switched from hp red to super or a husky equivalent oil and would never look back.

 

Why pay for BIO ? Never had issues with quality 2 stroke oil so why pay a premium , worked on plenty of seized huskys running XP , some could be put down to fuel quality issues but the XP never saved them .

You were lucky. Latest gen autotune saws from S,H and D all state NOT to use mineral base 2 cycle oil in these engines.

 

Seems reading the instruction / owners manual is a lost art.

 

In the Husky manual it did say use Synth oil but if using mineral oil to the Sthil spec use is at 33 to 1 ( might be 25 :1) as opposed to 50 to 1.

 

The supplying dealer has sold me the saw and the oil at the same time, they had never heard of syth 2 stroke oil and they are a fair sized dealer for all the major brands.

 

But have only used Synth since.

• For best results and performance use HUSQVARNA

• Never use two-stroke oil intended for water-cooled

engines, sometimes referred to as outboard oil (rated

No worries, it's hardly a problem.

 

I don't use much of it as it's only for my saws. The work ones run on stihl green oil.

 

When I run out I'll get in contact.

Tbh I wouldnt expect any oil to save an engine if there are other issues, ie poor fuel or air leaks etc.

 

It is only an extra 60p per 5 litres of fuel so imo its worth the extra cost to use fully synthetic oil.

Yes i sell Aspen synth 2 stroke oil to a few customers requiring Bio oil , i see you sell Echo Power blend ,very high ratings from users in the States .

From my own observations the Bio Synth oils have yet to sway me due to there inability to stave off rust in standing machines .
