It's only because there 3 houses down the road,

It's just the application ball ache once the applications in my hand should be fine,

It's partially my fault as I applied for 6 Arctics as have another venture up in. mind too

Typical dealing with government office burocracy and inefficiently

Ar right, the 6 artics will no doubt make a big difference to just one 7.5t truck. My landlord had a national o licence as it is but I need my own according to the powers that be, it's 27 quid to down plate to 6.5t aswell.

What sort of weight will a 7.5t tipper be ?

Thinking of this on tbay 322047166815 just worried about pay load after down rating to 6.5t.

I think there pretty good for payload as not a big lorry with little feet,

Bloke near me has one and I'm sure claimed 4 tonne, but that was a long time ago and pub talk.

To me Unladen weight should be a published figure and advertised, although I know this changes

A 7.5 tonne tipper usually weighs around 4.5 tonnes empty.

Insulated Tarmac bodies are heavy, but if you strip it to a flat and rebuild in ally you'll gain a bit.

An all ally body is the best, but obviously expensive.

You would be better off doing your C1+E test imo.

Thanks Bob, v helpful. Yeah he has a o centre where I rent my place, is it better to get these firms to do the application stuff then?

In reality then peter down plating that truck is pointless as say it weight 5t with all the gubbins on it I will end up with a 1.5t payload! Hardly a leap forward to a 3.5t and even easier to over load given the space available!

That's why I've never run a 7.5 tonner.

A ten tonner makes a lot of sense, 5 tonne unladen, 5 tonne payload, but if you down plate it to 6.5 tonnes you've just lost most of your payload.

I know it's a big investment in time and training, but there's no substitute for a proper lorry, I can't imagine going back to not having one now.

I used a firm in Wakefield called olmec who did everything for me, turned yard into operators centre, i didnt have to do much, cost around £1000 all in.
