Sycamore firewood

Had a load of free Sycamore for firewood the other day. Any advice on splitting as the axe just bounced off it. It is freshly cut and I normally find this the best time to split most wood. Any first hand thoughts of it as firewood as never burnt it before.

Sycamore is excellent as firewood.. Very quick season/dry too

Good firewood when seasoned.

 

I've never had much trouble splitting it with an axe, as long as it's not gnarly? I suppose if it doesn't split green it might split more easily when it's a bit drier?

Yes should split ok, maybe the OP is from the US. Plane is called sycamore there.

Odd, in my opinion sycamore is the easiest wood to split.

I had some sycamore that was covered in Ivy, a 30 ton splitter struggled to get through it
