Cheap chains???

I've got a archer chain and bar on my pole saw as I don't use it often I didn't want a expensive bar and chain and I find it cuts well for what I've used it for plus I haven't sharpened it yet. It only has cut 6inch max branches and probably only a hand ful

I've got a stihl pole saw attachment for the combi system I bought in August, done quite a bit with it and never once sharpened that either!

I just don't see the point in using a cheap chain unless it it's just as good as an expressive one for normal everyday professional use.

 

Why would I want to use a top pro saw that doesn't cut as well as it should?

 

Ok if it's getting used on poor jobs where the chain is getting battered every 5 minutes otherwise no chance.

Agreed, but, I have used the "cheapo" stuff on nail ridden municipal trees but I found hitting a foreign body destroyed the cheapo chain where a better made example just needed a touch up with a file

bit concerning that it has been heating the tip and edge of my guide bar up.

 

Using a new Piranha .325 chain today with a good condition Windsor bar (on a Solo 645) and the chain certainly seems snug in the rails. Not crazy tight, but snugger than an Oregon (etc) would be.

 

The bar was warmer than normal. Not HOT, but warmer than I would expect.
