I'm glad you made the switch, Geoff.

I don't know why but I get irritated to think of people using such a brilliant saw on an inferior cutting gear!

To be honest, and now with hindsight, it's the way to go woth these saws, it's transformed it.:001_smile:

Geoff you need to kick ya groundies arse leaving all that crap on the lawn!

I'm going to buy one of these.

Yes he will be getting a first warning, bless him, have a look at the last video I posted of the 1/4 inch chain and stihl bar in oak, the saw just flies with that combo, Rob D I believe does that setup complete, saves a few quid buying the bits and fitting the sprocket, which is threaded on.:001_smile:

Sorry to ask dumb questions gents, and yes, I know the answers will be somewhere amongst the replies but to save all the searching..........I'm just about to go buy this new fandangled Echo but the bar it comes with is a hulking great thing. I can get a little 10" echo bar but can someone confirm for me that the Stihl 12" carver bar that comes on the 150 will also fit the little echo without having to change sprockets? Bear in mind this is NZ and we're limited on bars at this stage. I'm guessing that it does from what I've read and that, therefore, the Stihl chain will also fit but with an extra link. Just need some clarification please and thanks.

Hi mate,

As long as the 2510 is running a 1/4" sprocket and not the 3/8" then the Stihl 0.043 (MS150) bar will be a straight fit. The 10" Stihl bar requires 1 extra DL, I don't know about the 12" bar though.

Cheers Joe. I think they come standard here with the 1/4" but I will double check. I know the bar and chain definitely looked wrong on such a small body although it didn't feel unduly unbalanced.

No worries, if you get trouble sourcing a stihl bar (I rate the 10") PM me and I'll get a price for ordering it and sending it over, should avoid import tax that way.
