Are we actually living in 'The Age of Stupid'?

I think the next generation may have been dragged up to be clients. They are used to being waited on and consulted on the level of service. At school, college and university they are clients and when they finally leave after their midlife crisis they are institutionalised and had their common sense removed.

A very astute finance manager in local government 30 year ago, when he retired, bluntly told us younguns that we was well-fooked, and that whilst he was retiring on a good pension, & at our ongoing expense, we would simply NOT be able to avail of the same deal, because the Government run Ponzi-Pension scheme would have run out of money or fresh blood/fresh contributors, in the ever increasing numbers it required to function.

I soon will be " todays pensioner " and I have paid all my nic all my life ....:001_smile:

Unfortunately there's not an investment pot to cover you Stubby, as Eggs says you'll need to rely on future generations of workers paying in.

Incidentally, along with massive national debt there's also huge unfounded public sector pension liabilities. And don't forget all the pfi which isn't on the balance sheet either!,

There is no doubt that "management" has become the most lethal parasite to industry/ organisation in recent years.

Agree 100%, far too many "Paper Experts" and as someone mentioned earlier about the stranded van/trailer load of timber the police rank & file have either lost all common sense or they've given up in the face of bureaucracy because they too are reduced to 'Box Ticking' excercises by 'career managers'

There is a section of society who, being incapable of anything else have created a niche which they fill by being self confidant bullies capable of bulls*******g their way through life while contributing nothing of any value, many of them go on to be politcians.

Take a look at the 'workforce' of any company, the office/management staff outnumber the production workers in almost every case and the bigger the company the greater the percentage of office staff/managers.

No. What we did a few years ago was swap common sense for Management, management becoming a job all on its own.

What I'm trying (badly) to explain is, we've breed a rake of folk that manage jobs/schemes that they don't know anything, or very little about.

Clear as mud.:001_rolleyes:

And so it goes on..

NHS hospital chief executives have been handed pay rises of up to £35,000, with the highest annual earnings reaching a record £340,000, a Daily Telegraph investigation has found.

Despite government pledges that the most senior NHS managers would have their pay frozen, 40 per cent of trusts increased executives’ wages by at least £5,000 during 2014-15.

Some managers’ earnings rose by almost a quarter, the findings from more than 200 NHS trust boards show. Patients’ groups accused the NHS of “scandalous excesses” at a time when the health service is facing the greatest financial crisis in its history.
