technically hard yes, but for sales purposes i'd be more comfortable classifying it as a softwood personally

 

 

 

you can't classify it as a softwood if it isn't a conifer:confused1:

 

 

underrated as a timber in my eyes and once dry burns great.

Don't sell firewood so can't comment on Poplar as a commercial firewood but I brought some home a couple of years ago. Burnt fast but nice and hot and made fantastic kindling. Easy splitting too.

They use it to make matchsticks don't they? I would surmise from that, that it burns ok... Dry

 

I was told the reason they use it for match sticks is because it burns slowly . The wax on the match keeping it alight . I have used it as fire wood and found it to be good . As said above once seasoned keep it dry as it is like blotting paper if there is any wet around .
