tree surgeon vs arborist

A person who practices or studies arboriculture can be termed an 'arborist' or an 'arboriculturist'. A 'tree surgeon' is more typically someone who is trained in the physical maintenance and manipulation of trees and therefore more a part of the arboriculture process rather than an arborist.

Taken from Wikipedia think it sums it up the best.

In my opinion,an arborist is someone who has a university/college degree in arboriculture.

Tree surgeons are the guys and gals who do the practical, dirty work of actual tree work day to day.Although there will be some who crossover and meet both criteria.

Id class myself as tree worker-pretty simple really...

Arborist explain how it's not about the money, but the love of the tree as they wait for a bus and save up for a silky saw pod 1 day!:001_rolleyes:

Tree surgeons drive new Hiluxs, live in houses with names, not numbers and know what a Moca Choca Late with syrup is and hate anything less than a twenty when buying cakes in posh coffee shops!

and take the unimog to said posh coffee shop still wearing a harness with more ad ons than a john deere?????

An arboriculturalist is the guy with the knowledge and the qualifications.

Arborist or tree surgeon?

After seeing this on FB I'm pretty sure I'm a tree surgeon, although nearly all of my patients die.

It's just embarrassing. We climb trees (when we have to), and cut them with chainsaws. It's just a job ffs.ImageUploadedByArbtalk1449341112.521505.jpg.12ab503c742bebffead7f649d4e8d933.jpg
