How have you older climbers changed your style in the last few years.

That's surely all the more reason to use srt. I've always though yew was a perfect srt scenario which is why I'm curious to the above

I'm interested to know how some of you older/more experienced climbers feel you have changed the way you climb compared to when you were young, dumb and full of.....

Personally I am a bit more safety conscious (especially since breaking six ribs after a fall) tie in twice more often, less free climbing. Still hurry hurry hurry, but am less shouty to the groundies (I hope!)

More self lowering to keep the groundy from getting overloaded.

How has age mellowed and changed you? Anything you would tell yourself ten or so years ago that would have helped?

 

I have been climbing nearly 20 years now, trained by a ex Royal Marine, I still remember his words well.always Be efficient. Always consider your groundsman.cut things smaller or use the crane. Make everything straight ,brash and timber, stacks better plus chips quicker. No dog dick's please.

A good pair of ladders for access, then usually DRT (especially with my new rope from Drayer) if bigger, srt access, then i will stick with srt if its straight forward dead wood ect, but would switch to drt for anything else. chop and change keeps it interesting
