Do you let your chainsaw run out of fuel?

Have done it for years and has never caused a problem.

 

If it did cause a problem you would see a lot more knackered machines about.

I will change my practice, I think, although I don't tend to use my chainsaw for long periods

 

Do you use Aspen? If so, you can just leave it in the tank anyway - no need to run it empty or dry even if you are not going to use the saw again for a while.

My dad and now I have been running a 1996 020 out of fuel every tank. Never caused any issues.

Try not to but there always that 'just one more cut' and that's when it run out. Not a problem to restart afterward though.

I recently left half a tank of Aspen in a saw for ten weeks without starting it. When I needed to use it. The saw started without a hitch and ran all day with a hiccup.

I shake mine about and put on the choke just to get a little longer out them, if I don't manage to finish a cut, I feel like a failure and the saw has won!!!!!

In twenty years never had a problem. As stated before, there would be a lot of buggered saws if that was a major fault of running out of fuel.
