Not done it for a while but everyone should still be taught it. As has already been said when your stuck, or don't have your usual kit for some reason it can still get you by. I'm a zig zag man now but will always carry a couple prussic loops in my kit bag

Im 20 years old and have been climbing for a couple of years on a bowline &prussik and love it!

was Tought like that in college and the guys who i work with are all the same they all climb on a pruissik.

i have nothing against the new fancy kit thats coming out but i have been put off recently about the stories about people being badly injured with the zigzag having problems etc ,thats what i like about the prussik , you know exactly what you've got and how it works and its easy to tie. not to mention it only costs a couple of £ to get 1.

Keep it simple and keep it safe thats what i say :thumbup1:

I am good friends with 4 lifelong climbers in my area, they all run their own domestic and commercial tree companies and they all also climb as subbies too.

They are in their forties and fifties and all prefer to only use a prussik.

I have occasionally asked why they like to stay old school and there answer is the same - 'safe and simple'

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of mechanical devices.

To see someone body thrusting 50' up a tree on a Prussick, however, is like watching someone use a bow saw.

They might be good, but they'd be better and faster using a more efficient system.
