i was on a cambium saver! using i think about an 85cm (eye to eye) ocean polyester 10mm on a 13mm yale,

i'll def keep messing on with it but found its hard to justify pissing about with stuff on a job!

will try the knut- thanks

Okay, best advice? Don't try it on a job with time constraints. Have a play one day where you aren't rushed. Also it's cheaper and more tweak able to make your own hitch cord compared to buying eye to eye hitches.

Of course you might just not like it. Not for everyone!

It really is beyond me some of the attitudes towards switching from prussik. I really don't understand the comments about being on spikes so anything other than a prussik is needed, or comments about them being pointless on small trees or conifers etc.

I would use a zigzag or advanced friction hitch on any tree with equal efficiency, tree types/size really doesn't come into it. Bottom line, if you have tried any of the advanced hitches and still think a prussik is better, then sorry but you were doing it wrong.

Perhaps all of us gear ponces were just using a prussik wrong?

No one forces anyone to use any particular system or discipline.

Conny hedges? It doesn't really matter IMO.

Long ascents on a Prussick?

Different ball game.

I'm not bothered by what other people do, but it concerns me that young lads will wear their bodies out by not adopting at least some more modern, ergonomic techniques.

Bill, pulling yourself up with your arms on a VT isn't what it's about, invest in a foot ascender man.
