Cut a telephone line while cutting epicormic of a common lime with a pole prunner,its was a reverends house too,i felt like a proper plonker.luckily the guy was very understanding-he even made us tea...

Wrong again Mick mate. I'm employed 5 days a week. This was a private job. No insurance. Shall I pull my pants down now?

Most lines I've seen have two yellow wires, which can be joined either way and four different colours. I'd try to get a proper connector kit and rejoin them. Bank holiday weekend may be difficult to get a kit but somewhere like maplins may do them.

Standard call out repair is £130, however I'm not sure when alarms are involved.. Can't see it costing more to add a new line.. that said if anyone can make it cost more bt will haha

Ok cheers. £130 doesn't sound too bad, but I won't hold my breath!

If you do DIY repair it, keep it quiet, everything up to the little box on the wall belongs to the provider.

 

I have been caught taking lines down and fixing them before now, openleach get a bit upset if they catch you
