Fair price ?

A guy popped into the yard today after timber for his processor, its for his own personal use. He cant take a big truck load but would like five ton at a time on the smaller truck. He took a step back when I quoted him £50 a ton delivered , its a ten mile round trip that he will unload with his guys. Am I leaning on him at that rate ??

It's a perfectly reasonable price for processor sized cord delivered.

Very fair - I've been offered 40 a ton for standing sycamore coppice (6 inch dia stuff) - the guy would come and fell it and take it and pay up.

 

50 for already felled hardwood is a bargain atm.

Very good price, if you where selling him the awkward bits that you can't process with a machine it would still be a good price.

It's the value of wood mentality. It's either worth it's weight in gold or it's junk free to a good home. Depends which way the transaction is going.

50 a t delivered is a good price, I'm paying a bit more than that roadside and I still turn a profit😀
