A proper holiday means you should switch off and recharge your batteries . Do not let your business run your life . Its better to run a business in a way that suits your life . Hope I'm making sense . Trying to do everything and be everywhere is a tough call . This could cause major stress / burnout . Trust me I have been there and many before me have also . After all your years in business regulars will wait ? Maybe set your answer machine to say ( Im on a contract out of the area and will call back within a week regards blah blah blah ) Seriously life is too short . Get your shorts on go swimming have a laugh enjoy life and alcohol not forgetting loved ones family and friends . Oh and bang some pics up of your time away from the tools

Hell no. I work hard enough as it is. Boss at council said to me once; when I'm on my death bed I won't remember the money I made, how quickly I paid the mortgage off, how many hours I worked to get my promotions or how much I made to retire on. I WILL remember walking bare foot through Paris, eating street food in Thailand from some very dodgy looking vendors or, in my case, standing amongst New York's concrete canyons, catching the dawn ferry to Bainbridge Island to see sea otters in the dawn sunlight or seeing spring snow in the Grand Canyon.

True Mark.

I'm on holiday now, I'm still available for the lads to contact if the have a problem but I'm not answering calls. I'm forwarding the odd email but that's about it. If I ignored work altogether the worry of things going wrong would spoil the holiday.

It's a balancing act.
