Just curious what everyone would quote for this

How many of these 'how much to quote' threads has there been over the years????. There seems to be one every day or so.

Had anybody ever learned anything from them? Each person would probably charge differently even if they saw the job, never mind trying to come to a price with just a few words to go on. Sorry to be so negative. Perhaps, I'm wrong?

Huck when we came home from Birmingham I thought I would have to clamber back up the ladder, but two people have taken the time to help us out with the business. One built and maintains our website and offers advice the other has helped me make decisions with my business. He told me not to mess about but tell clients as it is some get offended others completely get it. When somebody phones to invite me to quote for something I will say on the phone if your looking for the cheapest quote I'm afraid we're not the firm your looking for.

As I mentioned earlier I went to look at a big landscaping job the guy seemed really down to earth him and his wife showed me round the estate and it just clicked what they wanted and how they wanted it upon leaving they handed me the other quote and said if you beat that it's yours. I took the gamble and added more on returned it we have the job.

For years I've just muddled through but now I'm going to do what I'm happy doing we're good at it so I'm going to charge accordingly. It's working so far if it changes well I'll have to rethink.

Good on you Mike. It doesn't take long to explain to most switched on, serious potential clients the dangers of going the "cheap" route.

There are some jobs that you can win being more expensive ie high risk of damage or constructive work like landscaping, fencing or artistic reductions.

But if you're pricing against other firms for run of the mill tree work price will always be a big factor, we can all relate stories of how a client chose us above someone cheaper because they liked/trusted/admired our professionalism. It doesn't change a thing.

Good for you, I do the same.

However to suggest (as you did earlier) that some clients are not looking for the cheapest price is ridiculous.

I like these posts, get everyone a bit aggravated, or at least some people so my take , and all he wants to see is £££s

8 large Conys @ £250 a pop 5 Pops - reduced or felled @ about the same £250 each

Total £3,250 + vat lets see how this goes down
