Hire it with an operator maybey. Hire on its own I would say its more trouble than its worth. If u do hire it with out then be prepared to change the blades after every time its hired and keep it clean so you can see the brick dust/anything else un wanted. If it was me I wouldn't do it unless I was there or a good employe that I trust

Lots of reply's at once. I hire my machine out to a mate of mine a fair bit, he has his own business and always works well, but recently other tree surgeons have started to ask. £120 a day, a few days soon ads up a good amount, but its my only machine so dont know!

I think keeping the hire all legit would around £20 quid per time more if you change the blades each time.

If you have enough work for hiring it consider buying one and using the hire to pay the finance.

I don't hire or lend any of my tools out anymore, I used to hire my chipper to a few local tree surgeons but it always came back in a right state. The bend it you mend it rule is a waste of time as it will always be denied and without proof you can't pursue it. If you do chipper with operator then at least you are in charge of what goes through. I looked at a job the other day where some tit had cut a load of trees down in his garden and left it all on his lawn, "how much to chip that lot?" There was maybe 20 mins work pulse 50 lumps of dog egg to avoid standing in. I said I would email a quote, which I did, and let's just say I won't be getting the job!
